What age do you think you were most happy? Or maybe you feel it’s not come yet?

Our son asked all of us this the other day. Apparently, a study has shown that 67 is the ‘ magical’ age where we are most happy.

I couldn’t really answer. There’s been good and bad times all through our ages. However, 67 is a few years off for me and hubby at the moment, but those of you who are 67...what do you think? Is it all rubbish, or could there be something in it?

Over to you....

Gosh. I'll be 67 in a while so that's good news. Otherwise I was going to say that my 40s we're happy and satisfying times.

DiscoDancer1975 Mon 30-Aug-21 12:08:13

Yes.. I said 40’s were good too. Gives us all something to hope for though doesn’t it?

I’ll be 67 in September (really??????) so I’m now looking forward to being in the prime of life! grin

From the age of 34 ( 75 soon) my life has been wonderful. Little glitches along the way but nothing that couldn’t be sorted.

I can’t really remember being 67 - I’ll have to think. I’m 81.

Being 35-ish was enjoyable. Young children, young and energetic myself.

Otherwise, being under ten was wonderful.

Must have been good, but maybe your best is still to come?

Yes...that’s kind of how I looked at it ?

I was 67 three days ago. I’ll let you know!

67 was definitely not a happy time for me DH had been diagnosed with a life threatening condition and things went downhill for the next two years. I’d say my 40s were happiest years.

Gosh, on reflection, I think I was happiest between 19 & 24. Free as a bird, loving my job and my social life. A different kind of deep happiness came along later but it included responsibilities for others. I think my happiness now takes the shape of deep contentment. Can't particularly single out 67 in any way at all.

I retired at 60, am now 68. Touching wood, I think this has seemed like my best decade so far.
No work worries, AC and GC’s doing ok, blips here and there, elderly parents all sadly deceased but no longer a worry, just need for DH and me to keep reasonably fit and well.

Elusivebutterfly Mon 30-Aug-21 12:47:30

I moved house at 67 and really liked my new house and area so yes it's a good age but I think my best was when my children were small.

Gill66 Mon 30-Aug-21 12:48:00

I’m 69, and frankly my happiest years were when I was at grammar school (7 years) and from 17 to 20 when I fell in love. From then until now it’s been ups and downs, but 69 didn’t change anything……Maybe 70 will!!!!!!

My forties were good too. I've really enjoyed my 60s and 70s in France being retired with my husband and our animals. As Calendargirl said just need to keep fit and well now. I've noticed we are both slowing down quite a bit now.

DiscoDancer1975 Mon 30-Aug-21 12:55:40

So sad to hear that Tanith. I’m glad you had good times in your 40’s.

Skydancer Mon 30-Aug-21 12:57:09

My twenties to fifties I'd say. Sixties were good because I helped bring up a small GC. Can't say old age is better than young. Definitely not in my opinion.

Esspee Mon 30-Aug-21 13:06:34

Around now I think so early seventies.

50 - 60. Felt and looked at my best . Was busy - lots of work and fun I felt good , fit and energetic . Hope it all returns !

GagaJo Mon 30-Aug-21 13:19:06

I think happiness for me comes at different times in different areas of my life.

Academically, in my mid 30's when I was doing post grad work. I loved it and was good at it. Made me very satisfied.

Professionally, at 40 and then again at 50. I loved my work, was appreciated and recognised by my employer.

At 53, when my beloved grandson was born.

I hope so too. You’d have to change your username though?

Since my mid 50's it's got better and better, l'm now 67 and life is good.
A bad marriage kept me down.

Judy54 Mon 30-Aug-21 14:17:02

Right here right now. Each stage of life brings different things for all of us some happy some sad. I prefer to live in the present, have happy memories of the past and still look forward to the future whatever that may bring.
