I should think this funny maybe. And i am not so mad, more embarrassed.
Today, car showroom.
H. (61) and me sit opposite the car sales man.
Attractuve 20 sometbing walks over passing by h, to pass papers to salesman.
H. (loudly) "wow"
Short paause of silence
H. "You can sell me a car anyday".
20 simething shimmers away back to her desk.
Me.( Trying think im not sat there so speechless.)
Sakesman (muttering to desk quuetly)
"she does sell a lot of cars".
Silent pause again..
Salesman (embarrased, trying not to look at both of us but focusses on the computer screen instead)
"now, where were we?"

Now pse tell me girls. I know. Men will be men. Your response would be....

Yuk! I would have left him to it. My ex husband did something like this in a restaurant. Notice I said EX. We were only married for 3 years .... Too creepy around women once we were wed.

TopCat12 Thu 02-Sept-21 16:18:20

**ole. put him right, this is the 2000's not the 60's or 70's, when men thought they could get away with remarks like that, he demeans two women in one foul sweep, and not a word said.

Missiseff Thu 02-Sept-21 16:28:05

Jesus. Vile.

GrammarGrandma Thu 02-Sept-21 16:28:19

I would be angry but I know it would never happen. Has he been like this before?

Nanjust60 Thu 02-Sept-21 16:35:33

I would be livid and he would know about it

BabsB Thu 02-Sept-21 16:36:55

What an absolute first class prat

CBBL Thu 02-Sept-21 17:04:30

I would have been annoyed and embarrassed, and would have had to say something like "I really thought you had better manners than that, dear!"

Susiewakie Thu 02-Sept-21 17:34:37

Wow how old fashioned and rude ! Is he like that all the time ? It's 2021 Benny Hill days are over .I wouldn't go anywhere with him ! ( Myself and DH are 60)

Madgran77 Thu 02-Sept-21 17:39:38

Embarrassing! Inappropriate!

EEJit Thu 02-Sept-21 17:58:25

I think Beloved would give me a belt round ear there and then.

Beanie654321 Thu 02-Sept-21 19:19:12

I'm sorry but I think it is demeaning and wrong

coco20 Thu 02-Sept-21 20:03:07

Poke his eyes out and save your money on the car ?

Iwtwab12bow Thu 02-Sept-21 20:46:45

Oh honestly. Give him THAT LOOK you know what l mean. Then go off the whole idea of buying the car. Walk, get in own car,and huge grief on the way home. Sorry,no humiliation in front of anyone. What a pathetic man.

Msida Thu 02-Sept-21 21:33:22

Eviebeanz.. I would have given a karate chop to the neck that made me laugh out loud ????

Cindylou Thu 02-Sept-21 22:33:41

That’s really creepy . I’d be furious and embarrassed

Mollygo Thu 02-Sept-21 22:54:28

I’d have walked out. Presumably you were both involved in the car buying so he’d have to come after you. Then I’d have told him not to embarrass me.
I appreciate my DH even more now. He’d never do that.

Buffy Thu 02-Sept-21 23:32:41

What an absolutely crass statement. If you wouldn’t have stated his age I would have assumed he was 18 or under. You obviously can’t rely on your husband to behave like an adult.

Im sorry, but I dont really understand what you mean by this. Are you working in a showroom or were you there to buy a car?

What planet are you on?

Hollycat Fri 03-Sept-21 02:01:55

Everyone seems extremely excited about all this. Once upon a time it was considered “normal”. The Motor Shows in past years had nubile girls lying across the cars to attract attention and hopefully sell a car, race tracks were full of glamorous women draped over racing drivers, young women paraded round boxing rings with boards showing the number of the next round. Whatever the girl actually thought she knew enough to keep quiet so a sale might go through. No one died - get over it.

Esspee Fri 03-Sept-21 08:18:32

I would like to echo that if this behaviour has come out of the blue then the OP should be watching for other signs of early dementia.
Oddly with women an early sign is compulsive feeding of animals, pigeons, ducks, seagulls, other people’s cats etc.

Theoddbird Fri 03-Sept-21 08:45:55

I would have said something there and then and walked out. I would have taken the car and driven off leaving him to it.... If I had a husband like that he would not be for very long. He was showing absolute disrespect not only to the young woman but especially to his wife. What a horrible man

Molly10 Fri 03-Sept-21 10:01:45

Lots of comments on what your husband is and I'm sure you'll agree with many and be surprised by some.

Perhaps one reply could have been on the lines of:

One thing we can be sure of is she will be smart enough not to get in any car with you.

ALANaV Fri 03-Sept-21 21:50:03

I would have said well, this lovely young MAN can sell ME a car any day ............

Caleo Fri 03-Sept-21 23:38:04

"No one died - get over it."Hollycat you are funny ! I am still laughing to myself.

H1954 Sat 04-Sept-21 08:14:47

I wouldn't have immediately said, quite loudly " please excuse my husband, he's not had his medication today " and then given him a very stern look followed by an ear bashing later on. What a prat!
