As a teenager, which singers/actors did you really fancy, even fantasise about? For me it was -
Davy Jones (Monkees)
Peter Frampton (Thunderclap Newman)
David Cassidy
David Essex
Peter Noon (Herman’s Hermits)
Sasha Distel

Oh, how my imagination ran wild when I thought of, in particular, Davy Jones. And I was only about 13/14 at the time!

Ilya “The Man from UNCLE”. We were all nuts about him at school.

To add to Davy Jones, David Cassidy and Peter Noone, my 'girl-crush' was Suzi Q. Then the Rubettes came along and I fell in love with the drummer, John Richardson.

Later on, my favourite actor was John Hurt. Totally loved him then and still do even though he died a few years ago.

I remember the girls at school going all silly over Ilya - or someone from the Monkees. I didn't go through the stage of having crushes or admiring from afar, so was totally perplexed about it. I went straight from being a tomboy, climbing trees, to having a boyfriend at 14.

I remember fancying David Essex, then
Christopher Plummer in Waterloo
Anthony Andrews in The Scarlet Pimpernel and Kenneth More-although he was so old he was so manly.

What a story Josieann? A claim to Fame .
I only had the pleasure of seeing him on screen in That’ll Be The Day, Stardust ….. and another film I can’t recall the name of.

Many of you won't remember a film about the life of Al Jolson, in which the actor Larry Parks played him. I was absolutely mad about Larry Parks for several years.
Also, for his beautiful face, the ballet dancer Rudolf Nureyev.

My crushes were - George Harrison - that was love though grin
Tony Hicks from The Hollies
Peter Noone
Keith Richards
Eric Stewart from 10CC
Dave Davies from The Kinks
Billy Fury
A lot more that I can't recall.

Marc Bolan
David Essex

TerriBull Thu 30-Dec-21 11:23:34

Oh yes Jim Morrison! sort of Lord Byron of the day, mad, bad and dangerous to know, but very attractive and a rock star[s death at 27. Apart from him my list went Paul McCartney, Scott Engel, Davy Jones, David McCallum when he was in The Man from UNCLE, Marc Bolan, Warren Beatty after sneaking in underage into X rated Bonnie and Clyde, Bryan Ferry a bit later on, Rod Stewart, so embarrassed about that hmm to put it kindly he is no longer my cup of tea, If he was on the tv, I'd switch off!

I used to like Captain Scarlet even though he was a puppet !

JackyB Thu 30-Dec-21 11:52:15

Most of the above. Plus Tim Brooke-Taylor. My jotter cover was full of names with hearts round them and squirly patterns. I tried to get in as many obscure ones as possible - trying to be cool? - but I can't remember any of them now. Of course we also swooned over some of our teachers, especially the student teachers.

Kate1949 Thu 30-Dec-21 12:08:43

I still have a dictionary from my school days. Written all over the covers is 'I love George' I love Billy J' (Kramer). Gerry Marsden's name is also there.

Superflygal747 Thu 30-Dec-21 12:15:14

John Thaw (The Sweeney days)
Telly Savalas (Kojak)
David Soul (Starsky & Hutch)
Did I have a thing for policemen ??
But, above all, Barry Sheene. Not an actor/singer I know but I was obsessed with him throughout my teenage years.

Fernbergien Thu 30-Dec-21 12:23:51

I am another that liked Jack Jones. Had tickets fora show but he disappeared chasing after a woman he fancied. ( Susan ….?} . Also Gene Kelly when I was very young. .

threexnanny Thu 30-Dec-21 12:31:37

Always Gregory Peck for me.
My mum liked Russ Conway too. I think it was the wink to camera that got her.

Kate1949 Thu 30-Dec-21 12:37:04

I keep remembering them now.
Steve Marriot, Small Faces
Phil May, The Pretty Things (I think)
Robert Horton, actor

Yammy Thu 30-Dec-21 12:37:25
