Loo paper

TMI perhaps, but I find modern loo papers unsatisfactory because the surface layer disintegrates in use and leaves little crumbs of tissue behind. Not what I want sad! Is it just me and my strange body, or has anyone any recommendations for something which is less likely to do this? I used to like Kleenex Double Velvet but it doesn't seem to be made any more.

Yes TMI, I’m always finding little crumbs of tissue on the seat etc - it’s a nuisance. I use Andrex

I’d recommend Tesco Luxury Soft quilted

I think they now make loo paper that disintegrates easier so that it is more eco friendly and doesn't add to blockages in sewers .

Cushelle is the best I've tried. It dosen't disintegrate

I use a product called Wype (yes really). Squirt a few drops on the paper and hey presto an instant wipe without adding to the sewage system and reduces the amount of paper needed. Packaging is recyclable.

Wonder how long it will take before someone posts about why this thread is intrusive/boring/unimportant given what’s happening in the world.

I find Floralys Aloe Vera is kindest to my skin, which has been sensitive following bowel cancer treatment.

Any one remember the Bronco toilet paper, more like greaseproof paper 😁

Oh god yes! I remember that, dreadful stuff shinamae

Libman if that’s a dig at me I would only find it intrusive if you wanted to know how often I pooped.

I find the cheaper, firmer toilet paper (the kind you get in pound shops) far superior in use to all the fancy big brand ones

Hellogirl1 Sun 08-May-22 12:45:51

Any toilet paper is preferable to the squares of newspaper threaded on string I grew up with, that later graduated to The Dreaded IZAL paper, my auntie and my stepsister both worked at their Chapeltown factory, so we got it cut price, it was horrible.

Blossoming if I had mentioned you by name ( as I have done here) then you would be entitled to come back at me personally. However I didn’t - I was simply reflecting on a number of adverse comments to this type of thread seen recently. I am entitled to express an opinion and a thought as are you - or I could just scroll on.🤷‍♀️

Our loo rolls don’t seem to last as long as they used to, think they must be reducing the number of sheets in a roll.

Lucca it works really well. My daughter’s sewage pipe needed some attention recently and I was horrified to see that wipes had contributed to the problem. Vegan as well if that’s an issue.

I remember that too! Izal in little square boxes.
Also I remember visiting a small local cinema with newspaper squares on string. Oh, the good old days!!

Cheeky Panda bamboo toilet paper is quite soft and doesn't disintegrate like some other kinds. Before anyone points out that it is made in China, I know that, but it is made from waste bits of bamboo, which is grows fast and is therefore more quickly renewable than wood. Because it's strong, you don't use as much as you need with the disintegrating kinds. (Other brands are available smile)

Wheniwasyourage Sun 08-May-22 15:10:04

Remember Bronco? It was, like Izal, made from something like greaseproof paper. How did we ever manage? hmm

Blossoming Sun 08-May-22 15:11:37

Fair enough Libman

geekesse Sun 08-May-22 16:25:11

Don’t knock Izal. It was lousy loo paper, but it meant I had an endless supply of tracing paper for homework and craft projects.

That's certainly true. The paper tube in the centre has a wider diameter too.

Our school caretaker used to cut up newspaper for use in the school toilets at junior school. Those of you that had IZAL were lucky.
