First, I really am a male, and DW is another Gransnetter in her own right. I suspect DDs may dip into Mumsnet. I really cannot remember how or when I was introduced to Gransnet, but it was some years ago, and I have always found the range of topics interesting, from politics to grandparenting to AIBU to the more frivolous threads. The ones about sex and gender I have found particularly informative, as it is not a topic to which I had previously given much thought.

I feel no need for a male equivalent, even when some Gransnetters are up in arms about the patriarchy. I just duck!

The question I have is this. What do men find attractive and interesting about what they read on Gransnet? I wonder if a man could answer that please.

The name Gransnet is female. The logo is female. Almost all the ex-forum content is geared towards women. I can see one photo which appears to be of man a doing up his jeans next to a heading Menopause Weight Gain! I don’t see any specifically male products advertised. All the style and beauty advice is for women.

So men. What is it that you like about Gransnet specifically?

As said by Galaxy and others, there really isn’t a gap in the market for a Mens chat site similar to MN or GN
If there was, it would have been exploited years ago.

Including last week, I accidentally posted a photo of something of mine that was confidential.

I reported it at least twice.

I reported several of the pms alerting me to it.

At least four other posters reported it.

In the end I emailed Mumsnet, and it still took over three hours for it to be taken down.

There is also Spam that I reported well over a week ago still standing.

I related a family anecdote on here a while ago then decided I wasn't happy about it. GNHQ completely ignored five or six requests to remove the post at my request, in the latter requests I was begging in desperation to have it deleted but no. It remained.

I will ask for mine to be removed too, and then it will be done with

I was a little hurt that you used the word 'dictate'.

It just seemed to me that one should be able to enjoy a virtual cruise about culture without being required to go along with mainstream society's brainwashing of people from childhood about murdering living creatures in a place of beating down.

Looking at Mumsnet the age range seems to be very wide, certainly well into the grandparents age range, it is very much “no holds barred” and the language can be very “direct” the threads can be very fast moving as well. I guess there is a lot of overlap with age range .
