Should men have their own “Gramps Net” ?

I love to read Micks “Good Morning “ thread, Mick is a Gentleman in every sense of the word.

I rarely engage with men on GN, I took exception to a couple of men who were very crude and misogynistic.

I feel it is most unusual for a man to join a predominantly female space.
If for example my husband said he wanted to become part of the GN community I would be very against him joining. .

I realise there could be many men on here that we assume to be women but would you post more freely or discuss more intimate matters if this were a female forum only?

Do you think men should have their own site?

I reported that thread today.
I emailed Mumsnet.
And it’s proof that GN is being very poorly moderated at the moment, as was mentioned earlier (and commented upon by LilyGN)

Hitting a target once doesn't make it right to go in all guns blazing.

I can construct a sentence.

The message said GNHQ had concerns.

More exactly “Concerns about OP”
And said “thank you for reports “ which suggests that the correct procedure (reporting to HQ) was in fact followed.

What do you mean I imagined the troll hunting.

Angela73 Sat 27-Aug-22 16:44:12

As someone said, it really didn’t matter whether the OP was who he / she said they were - it elicited some useful tips and recipes….

No Galaxy you didn’t.

I have asked for my post to be deleted as Egbert's post was copied there

If you hadn't seen it until after 1pm and have since reported it amd now it is gone... that doesn't seem too bad?

Faster than I expected

FannyCornforth Sat 27-Aug-22 17:00:29

No, you misunderstand.
You only get stuff ‘actioned’ if you email Mumsnet.
The report button doesn’t work.

It's a pity if one or two suspect, probably male, posters spoil it for other men who may want to venture on to GN.

Angela73 Sat 27-Aug-22 17:08:26

Seems very odd to me, to start a ?bogus thread about food? You’d expect it to be about underwear or a part of the body?

Or all-in-one garments or footwear!

For the voidance of doubt, I did not report 'Egwin'. Had I done so I would have said so.

Yes I agree with you Callistemon, it's a pity that just one or two have managed to get the others tarred with the same brush.

Calendargirl Sat 27-Aug-22 17:50:20

Thank you to those who deciphered the message for me.

Germanshepherdsmum Sat 27-Aug-22 17:53:52

They are not all tarred with the same brush Chew.

I'm still utterly baffled by the whole thing

Best to stay out of it in future

You and me both VioletSky seems to be a lot of reporting and upset going on at the moment which seems unnecessary.

I am reporting this yet again, as your post still stands, AGA, despite your request for removal

AGAA4 Sat 27-Aug-22 20:00:25

Thanks again ixion I have had an email from HQ to say they will look into it as soon as possible.

NittWitt Sat 27-Aug-22 20:38:46

I think it's very silly to object to men taking part in GN. Men are not all alike just as women are not all alike.

Accept people as how you find them.

I joined Gransnet (fairly recently) as it was the only forum I could find that allowed discussion of medical issues.

Not to say I am not slightly embarrassed by my presence here and ,if I found a forum that allowed those particular discussions without a suggested or implied female input I would probably join it.(as well)

Most forums will quite quickly refer you to a doctor if you bring up any medical question and close the thread.
