I love to read Micks “Good Morning “ thread, Mick is a Gentleman in every sense of the word.

I rarely engage with men on GN, I took exception to a couple of men who were very crude and misogynistic.

I feel it is most unusual for a man to join a predominantly female space.
If for example my husband said he wanted to become part of the GN community I would be very against him joining. .

I realise there could be many men on here that we assume to be women but would you post more freely or discuss more intimate matters if this were a female forum only?

Do you think men should have their own site?

Why ever not Jackiest, what could possibly go wrong?

Someone might cry.

?? Are blondes prone to crying?

I would never stop men posting but would it be OK if we said no Blonds. We do have standards to keep up.

I’m blonde, but after that obvious discrimination, I might need counselling…??

Or maybe not lol ?

StarDreamer How rude to start posting links on someone’s thread to your own thread.
I think you need to think more considerately.

So are you declaring that it is my thread?

That is interesting.

And are you declaring that this thread belongs to someone?

I consider that posting the link to the other thread was reasonable in the circumstance that I posted it in the context of replying to Doodledog, not as a stand-alone link.

Ooh not the emoji I thought I had posted grin

You are not blond are you? They are sneaking in where you least expect. Some of them even dye their hair to get in.

How about OwdGitsNet DiamondLily?

Yeah, or OldiesRunWild? ? Or BoomersBusting?

There are a few names, but probably not suitable lol

It's a thought?

Not everyone thinks themselves so special and important that their opinions belong on every thread even if they have to change the subject

^So what your saying is: you just want a thread full of nodding dogs and the people who don’t have a problem with snakes can go and do one.^

Absolutely right Meryl; it's policing threads, dictating what can be discussed and within strict parameters, allowing no ability for threads to widen or meander as conversations and discussions normally do. It's that rigidity of thinking that lead to the recent furore.

Yes, I agree with you. Whatever the forum, threads always meander. If they didn't, it would become a circular discussion, of a couple of people, all agreeing with each other. Lively discussion would be killed, and it would be a total bore.?

"Forum monitors" are another bore - if it's not abusive, or against the rules. leave it be.

As for men, well, it would be nice if they did join. They bring a different perspective, sometimes, which can be interesting.

Perhaps the name "Gransnet" puts some males off - but I'm not sure what else you could call it.?

It's really no ruder than starting a thread questioning whether men should be able to join a predominantly female space, surely? Especially when it's known that the whole forum is open to everybody, irrespective of age or gender?

That was fun StarDreamer. I tried a line dancing class once, when we came to the end of the dance I was facing the wrong way. Every single time. grin

Well, I'm sorry, but I'm not going to be dictated to about days of the week!

Honestly ?

I go out for lunch and there's been a revolution before I get back.

No, we can't have a committee, and Tuesday doesn't work for me - I am being hounded.

I am flouncing from this thread forthwith.

I think we need a good boisterous political thread to get the blood pumping on GN, too much introspection and wittering on about 'he said' and 'she said'. Tedious, especially for those of us who did not read the offending thread. Leave it with me grin

Your not alone. I just say to myself how long and then low and behold ?

MissAdventure Fri 26-Aug-22 13:56:43

A thread doesnt belong to anybody.
That point was well and truly hammered home a few weeks ago, which was the start of all this.... stuff...

well, that's 10 minutes of my life I won't get back.

I care not a fig whether a poster is male or female.
