Octopus Energy

Has anyone any experience of this company please? We are looking to change suppliers and have been looking at Octopus. I would be grateful for any thoughts/experience of them. Thank you.

We use them Kate and are very impressed with the service they provide. We receive monthly emails showing the status of our account, and if we've needed to contact them, they respond promptly.

We moved to them on DD's recommendation and have not regretted it.

I am also pleased with that reply.
I am with EDF and their bills are impossible to interpret.
Had one yesterday which appears to say I have used nearly£900 energy in the last three months.
A positive balance I had three months ago almost wiped out even with me paying £302 monthly.
Intend to change as soon as I can.

They took over Bulb’s customers and that included us, I was wary but they are fine. We’ve had no problems. My son is with them too and he’s picky but happy with this company.

I should say my son was with EDF and had a terrible time so moved to Bulb before Octopus took over. He’s satisfied now.

I’ve been with Octopus for a number of years. The service is very good as Smileless says. I wouldn’t leave unless they were a lot more expensive than their rivals. The website is very easy to use and if you have a problem then you can email them or call. You can speak to a person relatively quickly.

Do you know anyone who has Octopus. Ask around as they can invite you to join and send you a link. You both get £50 if you sign up. I’d post mine but I’m pretty sure you’d prefer to give any bonus to a friend.

They really are very good.

Another endorsement from me, this time for their customer service. I had a glitch with a smart meter installation that was not Octopus’s fault, but they sorted it quickly, kept me regularly updated, and paid me reasonable compensation for the time I’d wasted.

I moved from EDF to Octopus many years ago and I have never regretted it. Recently I decided £300 was better in my bank account earning interest than in Octopus's coffers and no problem at all I contacted a member of staff and the money was transferred.

I find the company friendly and efficient.

I was happy with Bulb but when they went under I was moved to Octopus. They’ve just halved my monthly payments as I had built up a big credit ( thanks to trying to live without heat or hot water) I wonder what’s in store for next winter?

I had trouble getting a smart meter working and octopus assigned me a named person who saw me through from beginning to end. Best energy company ever

I second all the above comments! Previously I was with Scottish Power and they were dreadful, their customer service was appalling!
I have no complaints whatsoever with Octopus, they keep me regularly informed, their website is easy to use and they sent me a smart meter within a few weeks of signing up with them.
I feel in control with my energy usage and payments. I think a lot of companies should follow their example- not just energy companies either!

Been with them since Co-operative Energy switched us over to them. No issues at all. Very easy to use website.

We were transferred to Octopus when our previous supplier went bust in 2021 and I’ve been very pleased. They are an excellent company, easy to deal with and to contact, the website is straightforward and they keep in contact. Recently my credit had built up so I asked for a refund and for my monthly dd to be reduced . Both were done within a few days.
I heard the founder of the company interviewed on the radio and was impressed by his attitude.

I saw a conversation on here about two and a half years ago that was very positive about Octopus - so I changed. It's like a different type of animal from the other companies and I have been very, very pleased.

Been with them for over 5 years, find them really good at keeping you informed on pricing . I don't have or want a smart meter but get an email every month reminding me to put my readings in online then another one when the direct debit is being taken out of my account I also get a monthly statement showing my usage etc , also keep you informed of different tariffs available. They have also won the Which best utility company for 5 years running according to the advert on the radio.

Of course none of us is happy with the prices 🤔 but the service is exceptional. My contract is up in September, but I’ll definitely stay with them.

We were also switched over to Octopus after Bulb went out of business and I can't say we've had any complaints. The service so far has been very good.
