I need something better to sit on….
We have stressless leather currently but it’s so old and worn out, it was secondhand. It’s really time to replace it. Anyone got any ideas on something really comfy, nothing too low. We have to travel to look so would like a headstart.

My best tip…….If you are trying chairs or couches in a furniture showrooms, make sure you are wearing indoor clothes and flat shoes, not heeled boots like I was when we chose our leather suite 20 years ago. The depth of the seat (base of spine to back of knees) should be just right, and outdoor clothes affect this!

I'm another supporter of G Plan furniture.

Our suite must be 10 to 12 years old, and still comfortable. It's not leather, but we regularly remove the cushions and wash in the machine. They look almost new again.

Recommended.

I have no idea where you live but in our area ( North Bucks) we have an enormous furniture store where you can spend hours and hours as they have every make and style. We have just changed our armchairs for higher, easily moved ones more suited to our advanced age! Think about seat length, back height, firmness of cushion, all a matter of personal taste. Our old ones needed a crane to push them to one side!

I’ve ordered a G Plan Vintage Sixties - the Sixty Eight from John Lewis. It’s a large 3 seater so you could stretch right out on it which I wanted because I’m tall. It’s a higher seat than my present one which I couldn’t use when I was post op from a hip replacement. I chose this one in the store. The fabric colour on the website is nothing like the real colour.

Definitely you both have to try all the sofas you can in different shops, everyone needs something.
I need back support and I don’t want to stuff cushions behind myself every time a sit down, I don’t find deep seating comfortable, also I want my feet touching the floor and head support. I personally have had 2 leather sofas for 35 years and have had no problems with slipping nor wear.
The Which magazine has a recently printed a new report.

I realise this is an old thread but had to comment how pleased I am that G-Plan come so highly recommended.
My furniture, two seater and three seater are so comfortable, most people remark on it.
It is 13/14 years old now and and looking slightly past its best but I can’t find anything as comfortable.

Pleased for you that you found something.
Update.
We also found a beautiful two and three seater from Alexander &James. These will last a lifetime and the leather is probably more nubuck than shiny.
