One thing I would change is my wedding ring.

Don’t get me wrong, I love it, but I’ve been married 51 years. Wide rings were fashionable back then, and mine is wide. (Think hula hoop). And although my fingers don’t seem to have changed, I know they must have. In hot weather, I struggle to get my ring on and off, so frequently don’t wear it. But this time of year, it fits well, so am reluctant to have it altered.

So a narrow band would have been more sensible.

Having said all that, I wouldn’t swap DH!

Love my wedding ring. 22carat and I can’t get it off even if I wanted to. The twice I have been in hospital it was covered with Elastoplast. It was bought in 1965 and is not terribly wide. My engagement ring belonged to DH’s grandmother. A garnet flower, and I absolutely loved it. Sadly many years ago it got lost, and since then I have been looking for something similar, but so far no luck.

I have arthritic hands, so my narrow wedding ring is hinged for ease of removal, should it be necessary. The ring can be opened using a pen like gadget, or even a ball point pen.

Until December I always wore my wedding ring . My husband died in 2004 aged 47. We had been married 22 years. Since 2017 I lost 7st which meant my wedding was loose so used a spiral plastic ring tightener. As I didn't want it resized but left as my husband put it on my finger. It's d shaped 22ct. I forgot to put the tightener on in December and went shopping then to my usual café. When I got home and took my gloves off no ring. I screamed and burst into tears..I rang my daughter and frightened her she thought I was seriously or had a bad accident. Rightly so she told me off for giving her a scare. I phoned the cafe luckily they found it on the floor and knew it was mine. I went straight away to get it. I wear it on a sliver snake linked chain . My daughter had been telling me to put it on a chain for a year as it had fallen off at home.

I hate not wearing it but I can't lose it again . But I.will always be a Mrs and am still married even 20 years since he died.
