Just asking if anyone else has had this drove home from work yesterday and felt nausea whilst still at work went onto the m25 and had a raging headach too came home threw up not sure if i need to go to the doctors or just sleep it off. Has anyone else had similar and what did you do?

BlueBelle Thu 18-Apr-24 06:28:13

What a strange post how can anyone know what is happening to you and whether you need a doctor, an ambulance, a bed, only you can decide that
Probably wasn’t wise to drive if you felt so unwell
Get well soon

How unpleasant for you!

It sounds like it could have been a migraine. It could be worth talking to a medical professional such as a pharmacist or your GP. There are remedies which, if taken at the first sign, can help reduce the severity of symptoms.

I hope you are feeling better today. 💐

Perhaps you should have called NHS 111 for medical advice.

Good idea.

Bluebell why such an unusual post? What an unusual answer?
Im asking if any one can relate and what they have done in similar situations. What a truley discompassionate answer. Is this not a forum for anything. who made you the question judge!!!

Damdee Thu 18-Apr-24 12:05:51

I thought BlueBelle's answer was pretty accurate and not discompassionate. She said Get Well Soon too.

I certainly would not have driven a car while feeling nauseus. That is plain irresponsible.
You asked us haveaniceday so we say what we think

How are you feeling today? If you still feel sick with the headache it might be an idea to get medical advice.

Otherwise just take it easy today.

When I vomited multiple times during a 16 hour period it transpired I had a ruptured appendix. I ignored it to start with until the Dr surgery opened in the morning.

Driving home could have put yourself and others in danger, social media is not the place for medical advice.

MayBee70 Thu 18-Apr-24 12:22:20

Sounds like a migraine to me. There are times when I should have taken something when I felt a headache coming on and the stress of driving made it worse. I don’t thankfully get migraines any more but the thought of driving on the M25 might bring one on. It took me years to work out what triggered my migraines, by which time old age had all but put an end to them.

With all respect to the OP, when someone whose name is not familiar, starts a thread describing some medical symptoms, all of which are not uncommon either together or apart and then asks us whether we have had similar symptoms and what did we do, what kind of response did you expect?

We are not doctors or pharmacists, we do not know your medical history, these symptoms are generic and could mean nothing at all or be precursors for something very serious.

If i had symptoms like yours out of the blue, I would ring 111. If I had a history of migraine, I would assume it was migraine, so take two paracetamol and codeine and go to bed. I am sure others with different medical histories and similar symptoms would reach different conclusions.

Welcome though you are on GN, you have set us a question that none of us is in a position to answer.

Try 111.

I think you need to lay down in a darkened room 🤦🏼‍♀️

petra

I think you need to lay down in a darkened room 🤦🏼‍♀️

I often feel I should be doing just this 🤦‍♀️

Cossy Thu 18-Apr-24 14:48:37

haveaniceday

Tbh this could be anything from a virus to a 24 hour bug to a migraine.

If you’re still not feeling well then consult a GP & I wish you a speedy recover.

Thanks everyone. Feeling a little better today perhaps im wondering if anyone else has had a simiar experiance and how they coped with it and what they have done i see many post on here that could be pointed in lots of differant professional routes none of us are doctors relationship counsellors or dietitians but here we are asking questions!!

While I think you should not have driven feeling ill I can understand that judgement can be clouded when you aren't feeling well.
As others have said if this is the first time this has happened and you continue to feel ill you need to consult a doctor.
Your experience is very much the same as I had with my first migraine attack. Luckily I was being driven home by a colleague.

haveaniceday Thu 18-Apr-24 16:37:03

Thank you i really didnt realise the severity of it untill i was driving home.

Cossy Thu 18-Apr-24 16:38:19

I’ve driven home before feeling terrible, it’s not the greatest thing to do but sometimes life leaves us with no choice

loopyloo Thu 18-Apr-24 16:45:12

If it were me, would have done the same regarding getting home. Then rested in bed and waited to see how I recovered.
Might be norovirus.
Hope you have now recovered .

haveaniceday Thu 18-Apr-24 17:21:05

Thank ypu loopyloo have taken paracetamol all through the day and its working feeling better today!

BlueBelle Thu 18-Apr-24 17:33:48

Certainly wasn’t meant as a harsh post from me haveaniceday it was a practical answer because no one felt what you were feeling so no one knows the answer
We can’t judge how ill you felt or whether you were bad enough to get a taxi or a friend or relation to get you home or whether you needed 111 or just a nights rest
Hopefully the latter
How do you feel today ? Has the headache and sickness continued or gone if it’s continued I d ask 111 s advice

haveaniceday Thu 18-Apr-24 17:41:18

Hello Bluebelle. Its ok i do appreciate straightforwardness, however just like everyone else im just trying to muddle through ive no family around and i appreciate any answer could be best left to any professionals im simply looking for others who can relate and offer suggestions and how they coped. Headache and sickness is passing with the help of paracetamol today. Thank you for your kind exit.

Germanshepherdsmum Thu 18-Apr-24 18:07:47

Your symptoms could also be indicative of meningitis so I would advise you to seek medical assistance. This really isn’t a forum for diagnosing symptoms as (with I think one exception) none of us is medically qualified - but you should definitely not drive if feeling so unwell.

crazyH Thu 18-Apr-24 18:18:34

Glad the paracetamol is helping. But if it returns and persists, please seek medical advice.
