Hello Bluebelle. Its ok i do appreciate straightforwardness, however just like everyone else im just trying to muddle through ive no family around and i appreciate any answer could be best left to any professionals im simply looking for others who can relate and offer suggestions and how they coped. Headache and sickness is passing with the help of paracetamol today. Thank you for your kind exit.

My migraines always resulted in me being sick and, once I had been the headache would go straight away. The triggers were sleeping in late on a Saturday, drinking orange juice ( or anything acidic) and smoking which I did at the time.

In similar circumstances, I'd probably have driven home, because - what alternative would I have had? Once at home, I'd have dosed myself with Paracetamol and tried to get some sleep which I always find to be a great healer. Phoning 111 would be best if you were really anxious.

You might have thought my post was harsh.
You are asking a group of strangers to give you advice re your health.
You say you felt nauseous. How do we know how nauseous you felt. Your nausea could be very different to mine.
You say you had a raging headache, tell that to someone ( not me) who suffers with migraine.
You say you threw up. Without anyone of us being there how are we supposed to advise as to how bad it was.

I was going to say this too. I've often driven home feeling nauseous, headachy whatever.

OP have you checked your BP?

There are many reasons for feeling headachy and nauseated - migraine is a possibility and viruses another .
If it passed off after 24 hours it's most likely to be a virus .
Both can occur without any warning .
I wouldn't drive feeling ill like that , but you didn't realise the severity of it .
If you have migraine , the street lights could have had a strobing effect .
I have this with trees planted at regular intervals "strobing " in my peripheral vision .
The first time it happened it really terrified me .

I think that you need to have a check up at your GPs .
Maybe your BP or blood sugar levels aren't normal .
If it happens again -pull over and take a couple of paracetamol , call someone and wait until it passes off .

It is difficult if you start to feel ill at work, & there's no-one you can call to collect you. Happened to me & I just wanted to get home before symptoms got worse & I couldn't. I was on the train but it was not an experience I want to dwell on - mine was a reaction to tablets.glad you're feeling better.

Yes OP, it happened to me not long ago. I felt really unwell late afternoon in work and decided to drive home. I didn't have anyone to drive me home and didn't want to deal with a (probably male) taxi driver. I just wanted to get home and lie down.

Fortunately I don't have to drive on a motorway and live only around 20 minutes from work. I had to pull over in a slip road and was horribly sick and collapsed on the bed when I got home.

Yes I think the M25 is the last road I would tackle if I was feeling ill.

I certainly can't criticise. I was going up to London with friends and by the time I had driven to my friend's house I was so breathless I could hardly walk. Obviously I should have turned round and gone home, but the whole day had been paid for by my friend and planned for weeks so I felt I had to carry on. Spent a horrendous day sitting down as much as I could and eventually managed to drive myself home, fortunately down quiet country roads. After two days seeing different doctors I was diagnosed with blood clots in both lungs. Travelling around in that condition ranks as absolutely the most stupid thing I've ever done - even worse than the time I nearly got caught by the incoming tide.

Simple solution - just see your GP if you are worried about your health!

Perhaps you would have been better to go to digital.nhs.uk/services/nhs-111-online instead of asking on Gransnet, which is a social media chat site, not a source for medical advice. Posters can chat with you about their own experiences of various conditions and diseases, but using them as a substitute for GPs, A & E departments or medically-staffed online triage sites is not a very good idea.

I see that my reaction was mirrored in posts from others, and *haveaniceday" wasn't too pleased with some replies, but bear in mind that you asked a specific question in your first post You said, "not sure if i need to go to the doctors or just sleep it off"

In that position, the best thing to do if you have access to the internet is to find a medical website which will assess your symptoms and advise you. If there is something that needs medical intervention, then putting the question on a chat site and waiting until you have received answers could delay you contacting professionals and getting urgent treatment.

There's another bug going round causing these symptoms.

Or perhaps you ate something that upset you.

Me neither!

It wouldn't be easy to stop and vomit as I think the M25 is mostly smart motorway now.
