I don’t have a cleaner so that doesn’t apply. I give my male hairdresser a bottle of wine. I don’t believe in tipping. They get paid for doing a job.

When I worked and had a cleaner I used to double her pay at Christmas as she always did an excellent job and I knew I was lucky to have her.

An extra week’s money for the cleaning lady ….that’s it.

I give my cleaner an extra week’s money. Cash also for gardener, window cleaner, hairdresser and beautician (the last two come to the house). No tip for dental hygienist yesterday or osteopath

My hairdresser is the salon owner and I was always taught that you don’t tip the owner. Not sure is this is still the case. But a Christmas gift is different?

Re my hairdresser, I tip her every visit to the salon. The gift in the Christmas card is just that, a Christmas gift. I still give her the usual tip when I pay as those regular tips are shared with all staff.

I don't have a cleaning lady but if I did I would give her £20 .

After a few false starts after moving here 6 months ago, I found a lovely young Mum who comes once a fortnight and does a splendid job. I'd like to give her a Christmas gift and just wondering - do you give an actual gift or do you add a bit of extra cash on?

If cash, how much do you give?

Mum gives hers £30

Yes I also double the pay for Christmas week rather than buying stuff she probably doesn’t want/need.

I’ve been pondering this question re my cleaning lady. Double money - good idea! Thank you x

Oops should have double checked £20 for each lady.

Significant cash for Wonderful Cleaner, less for gardener, expensive chocolates for hair dresser and chiropodist. Am acutely aware of how much all these cheerful and competent people enhance my life and am very grateful.

I double my nice cleaners money.
I tip the hairdresser every time she comes so she just gets a card.

I don't have a person who cleans for me but I give my hairdresser £25 in a Christmas card.
