My Beko washing machine has died. It was probably 8 years old so no point in trying to repair it. Apparently there's a problem with the circuit board.
I hope to be moving house within a year, so I need something I can take with me.
Can someone recommend a machine 8kg or under for about £300. Pref less?

I was told the more features, the more to go wrong.
I just need basic, anyway.

I’ve got a Neff. It’s my second Neff because they’ve been very reliable. I’ve had Hotpoint and Hoover washing machines before, but I like the Neff the best.

We moved three years ago. Just before the move, my 11 year old washing machine died and I had to get a new one quickly. The only one which could be delivered quickly was a Bosch. We used it for three months and then brought it with us to our new home, because I was reluctant to leave behind a new machine! We put the Bosch in the utility room. The previous owners had left behind their own machine, a Beko which was several years old and still worked. And it's still going! If you live locally, you can come and get it and I will use the one which I brought with me! The Beko works perfectly, by the way. Where do you live?

And if you are going to buy one, I'd recommend the Beko. Much cheaper and work perfectly. Many machines have lots of bells and whistles which I would never use. And the more complicated they are, the more there is to go wrong. I prefer dials over push buttons or touchscreen controls. Simpler to use and more robust.

That's so true Granjeanne. I use the short programme on my Beko mostly. Only rarely do I do another, hotter, longer one.
It's still working fingers crossed 🤞

I hope your machine lasts until the move! It was so annoying that mine died when it did, as I knew the move would be fairly imminent. If it lasts, maybe leave it behind and buy a new one for the new house. They are tricky things to move, in any case. You have to immobilise them so that the drum doesn't move. Something to do with weights? And then you have to remove the immobiliser before you can use it in the new house. The hoses can also play up when you move. I would try to limp on with it if you can, and then buy a new one and have it delivered to the new house. It might be worth trying to get the circuit board replaced? We use a great local repair man who can deal with all makes and doesn't charge a fortune. Use one of these if you can find one, rather than someone tied to an individual manufacturer, who has a vested interest in flogging you a new machine!
