Finally I’m starting on moving house just wonder if anyone else is doing the the same and want to share the journey with me? I’m in mid 70s and it’s tough making every scary decision alone.
I’ve struggled for months with this decision but now I need to get on with it. Join me for support.

Finally finally finally my exchange happened at 4pm today what a struggle to get it over the line. Maybe I’ll sleep tonight and finish packing for move on Friday I’m very happy.

tanith you can breath again . I had my sale fall through twice but I was lucky the sellers kept the bungalow for me . Good luck with your move and enjoy your new home .

Well if anyone is interested I'm now in my new home by the skin of our teeth, completion finally took place 5 mins before all the relevant offices closed down for the weekend we had given up hope.
We're here its chaos and every bone in my body hurts but at least that will all settle down in time.

tanith Good luck! Now you are in the new home you start all the fun of unpacking and making it your home.

I always reckon that for the first three months of living in a new home, you are still living in the previous occupiers house, and then after 3 months, suddenly house and your contents suddenly settle and the house is clearly at one with yu.

We sold our house in France Easter 2024. We were good frends with the new owners, they were the parents of our next door neighbour. We sold a lot of the contents of the house with the house.

For the first year we did not go near the house, we wouldn't even drive down the road that went past the top of the farm drive giving access to it then this Easter, a year later, we visited them to give them some papers we had found.

We were invited into the living room. There was our settee, bureau bookcase, rug and curtains, but it was no longer ours. The furniture had been moved around, their own furniture introduced, different scatter cushions on the settee. It was clearly their home not ours.

We are currently sofa surfing with our DD. Our previous house sold but not due to complete on our new home until late August.

Grammaretto

Yes. I am at about the same stage and age as you, I think. tanith
Good luck to us!
I am in Scotland where the process is different.
I think I have a private buyer which my DC insist is a very bad idea.
So yes, hard decisions are coming thick and fast!
What's your situation?

Grammaretto, I've sold multiple properties in Scotland, two were to people I knew who knew and coveted my property and the rest all "private buyers" introduced by my estate agent. There's no difference. No problems.

I conduct all sales the same way ; buyer's lawyer submits their formal offer in writing to my lawyer. If I accept, the lawyers follow legal protocol to process the entire conveyance between them.

After my lawyer checks with theirs that potential buyers current status/financial ability /readiness to buy, is fit to proceed.
