Cost of a cut and blow dry?

I only moved to this area last year and when I found a hairdresser she charged me £30 for a cut and blow dry. I have very short straight hair so it's not a massively difficult or long job.

After Christmas the price went up to £33 and my next cut in June is going to be £36.

This is a semi-rural village and it's an extension in the house - not swanky by any standards.

When she did my highlights I was a bit shocked that it was £110 - the salon I went to prior to moving charged me £80.

Just wondered how much others pay?

I live in Shoreham-by-Sea, West Sussex. My local hairdresser charges £65 for colour, cut and blow dry and £60 without the cut. The atmosphere is second to none, the hairdressers are welcoming and very supportive to their elderly clientele. It's a real treat spending a few hours in their company. I am very lucky to have found them.

Cut and blow dry £76 at the salon I go too. I have half a head colour too which is an extra £67.
That's in Hampshire North of Portsmouth.

I live in a London Borough bordering Kent and have had a mobile hairdresser for the last four years. I wash my hair and then have a cut and blowdry for which she charges £22 but I give her £25. We have become good friends, the cut is as good as any I have had at salons costing three times as much and I save on the hassle and cost of parking.

Wet cut £18. Very good cut and very lovely hairdresser. Loads of people ask me where I get my hair done.

I pay £15 for a dry cut here in South Wales.

My daughter colours my hair about once a month or so, with a Garnier Nutrisse hair dye. Only because I get in a mess doing it myself grin

Mine is £23 Senior cut and blow dry. Salons are very expensive these days. Does your hairdresser not do what I get? The prices you pay are what my salon is too for non seniors. I am semi rural

Hi I go in Cheltenham. Short pixie dry cut £25 (just gone up from £22)

I can't stand going to the hairdresser - "what are you doing this weekend?" "Any holidays booked?" etc etc and then a massive bill.

So I now use a mobile lady who charges me £15 for a wet cut. I just have to sweep up!

I used to dye my hair dark brown at home but got fed up with it. So I stopped to see what colour the grey was! At the moment it is a mix of dark grey and light grey. Once it is all grey I will try again.

My hairdresser shut her salon and is now mobile. For a cut and blow dry and full head of highlights she charges me £50. I wash the colour out while she sits and has a coffee and catches up with on phone! She only lives down the road so it's only the cost of the products and her time but I feel really lucky with the arrangement.

I left the Scottish Highlands over 11 years ago, at that time my hairdresser in Inverness was £45 for a cut and blow. Tried others in my local town of Dingwall, were not very good and charged between £25 & £35 so was paying an awful lot more in the Highlands than I do in the East Midlands

I cut my own in a short bob. I would avoid a hairdresser where they change their prices frequently.

I live near Oxford and pay £28 at a walk-in salon for a wet cut. I wash it before and she wets it with a spray bottle.

Go elsewhere if you are not happy with her charges. I live in a village and pay £10.00 for a trim every five weeks.

My mobile hairdresser charges £15 for a wet cut, I give her a coffee and we have a damn good natter! There is no way I would pay what some of you are paying!

Get my hair cut and blow dried every six weeks for £33 and her salon is now in her back garden! No colouring since Covid , gone sort of grey gracefully and saved a fortune !!

During covid I let my colour grow out and it is white, I used to have it coloured every three weeks. Covid made me nervous about leaning backwards over sinks and having people breath on my face. I agreed with my hairdresser that I would wash my hair before I go to her . It is very thin hair. She just damps it with a water spray if she needs to and cuts it and blow dries it. I pay 27.00 and I am in and out in half an hour. I have it cut around once a month but we can both be flexible as nothing is spoiling if I have to wait for five weeks. We did try going for six weeks as a holiday messed up the timing but that meant that the shape needed sharpening up as the cut relies on being fairly precise. I am happy with the white hair and oddly enough it does not look as thin as it did when I coloured it. I love the fact that it only takes half an hour. My hairdresser is lovely and the salon is friendly so I am very happy with the arrangement.

Used to go to Cheltenham for cut and blow dry and half head highlights and cost around £200. Was a huge amount of money but the young woman who did it was amazing very best cut and very best colour I have ever had and also a really lovely person. Unfortunately the salon closed, now I go to a local hairdresser and get a good cut, not great colour for around £130. Cut and blow dry around £65.

Eddieslass Fri 02-May-25 19:18:56

My hairdresser comes to my house. A dry cut has just gone up to £15. Sussex.

RillaofIngleside Fri 02-May-25 19:34:20

I go to a local hairdresser who charges £25 for a cut and blow dry and £40 for highlights. I think I am very lucky! And she has become a good friend.
