I suppose we all receive gifts that just are not useful to us.

This year was no exception however I did receive a beautiful expensive jumper from my daughter and a fabulous robe from my granddaughter.

Family time was also very precious.

A beautiful willow flower basket/trug made in Suffolk. I’d wanted one for ages and the real thing did not disappoint. I look forward to using it .

I agree Bridie. I had lots of nice things, but the gift that I will use most is a stocking filler - a big leather tassel keyring from my daughter, in bright pink. I’m always struggling to find my keys in my handbag, and therefore I know that I will appreciate it every day.

A hamper of goodies from DD, so thoughtful. There are firelighters, cheese, soap, chutney, honey and a fancy gadget for opening bottles. I'm delighted.

It wasn't even an official Christmas present, but my friend had treated herself to the Liberty Advent Calendar (£275!") and gave been a very nice skin cream and a beautiful perfume. Just nice to have an unexpected bit of luxury.

A shopping bag on wheels as we have a new community shop in the village and it will encourage me to walk there.

Greyduster Fri 26-Dec-25 22:25:43

I also received a hamper of goodies from DD, but contained in a lovely carved wooden box in which I can keep to hand notebooks and poetry books that are usually stacked on the sofa beside me.

Not me, but DH got a heartfelt hug from DGC who is autistic and only ever tolerates a hug from mum. We got thoughtful and appreciated presents but that was priceless.

A bottle of wine and a gift card from our granddaughter now that she is earning. Bless her.

2 vouchers for my local beauty salon. Although I can well afford to have beauty treatments, it feels so decadent to spend money on myself in that way, that I never do. I can now have my nails done/massages guilt free!

A new cabin suitcase. Mine broke in the summer. I don’t go away very often, but having a ginormous case for an overnight stay is rather OTT!

Apple Watch - now I’ll know if I have atrial fibrillation. All my life I have wanted to know that hehe.

It will also remind you to stand regularly and breathe at regular intervals, in case you’ve forgotten to do either of those things.

I got some velvety PJs from Asda. I’m really popular with ASC grandson who keeps stroking me.

Spending the day with my family. Son in law cooking a great Christmas lunch, watching my four young grandchildren opening gfts. Watching sons in law and paternal grandfather trying to get the small drone I gave to the youngest - down from the kitchen roof. Priceless
