I suppose we all receive gifts that just are not useful to us.

This year was no exception however I did receive a beautiful expensive jumper from my daughter and a fabulous robe from my granddaughter.

Family time was also very precious.

Also, a beautiful calendar with paintings of Venice by Canaletto from someone who has picked up on my obsession with Venice.

A light box thing to help counter depression in the winter.
And some lovely flamingo cushions.

The presence of my children , their spouses and my grandchildren . We don’t often get all together. Wonderful

Spending the day with my darling younger sister and her family, precious and priceless.

No gifts can compare to time spent with family, we toasted our parents who are no longer with us, and the children who never met them love hearing about them. 🩷💙

Wow some lovely gifts especially wonderful to spend the day with grandchildren. I throughly enjoyed the day with my granddaughter.

Amazingly my daughter won the Wimbledon ticket draw and my present is her taking me on 2nd Monday number one court. I can’t wait until June and never imagined I go again. My last visit was some 50 years ago!

Husband and I only get two presents - one from daughter, one from son. This year, I mentioned to my daughter that I could do with a new mug as 'winter had finally come' for my old Game of Thrones one. Well, she got me a new one with my favourite rock band on it, which absolutely made my day! Sounds such a simple thing, but I knew she'd known I would love it and that's what meant the most.

My best Christmas present was, having steeled myself to spending Christmas alone, to realise that a new friend had been let down by those who had promised to spend Christmas at hers, and that she would be delighted to come to my place.

We both had a different and very enjoyable day than we had anticipated.

A 2026 Filofax with a brand new Filofax plastic Cover and all sorts of bells and whistles paperwork add-ins like extra pages and a map of the world.
Now I can operate.
From the OH.
I may or may not have dropped large hints.

Mine is quite ordinary really - a cardigan from dh. It's just the right length, colour and shape. I didn't know i wanted a new cardigan- but I obviously did.

In terms of material items, a Ravensburger 1,000 piece jigsaw puzzle of a country cottage. I love doing these because it's something I can do bit by bit, and the pictures are so pretty, full of nostalgia.
Favourite non-material present has to be adult DC and DGC spending time with us.

That would have given me a great laugh to Jax.
I hope you’re going on as well as you can.

Your gifts are the very best 😊

Poor Jax glad your present made you smile.

Maggiemaybe Sat 27-Dec-25 23:26:43

Bluemini and Newatthis, many congratulations! Our first grandchild was a Christmas baby too, 13 years ago, and we’d just been told that his cousin was on the way - the best Christmas gifts ever!

Newatthis Sun 28-Dec-25 00:47:08

Thank you so much.
