Searching for Bel Paese soft Italian cheese this morning, right down a rabbit hole, available from Amazon of course, now I know it isn’t freely available I really want it.

Is there anything in particular anyone misses?

I remember my Grandma having a Terry’s of York casket,
the glamour! with wee drawers, layer of Langue de Chat before the good stuff underneath, violet creams, hazlenut swirls, butterscotch.
Callard and Bowser’s butterscotch wrapped separately in foil in a little box, I preferred to a tin of Sharp’s toffees, the dentist’s delight.

It has been a looong time but I still crave Huntley and Palmer’s Breakfast Biscuits, the factory in Reading long gone,
New Zealand red Cheddar cheese, nutty and delicious.

This thread has stirred memories for me and after much searching (and disappointment), I have caved in and bought some chocolate blancmange from Amazon.

Had some for supper and it was delicious! Don’t know why I wanted it, but I am glad I did.

Also potato cakes. The ones they sell now are awful.

I agree. I’ve had to resort to making my own.

this made me laugh - O the shame!
I bought some half price in Waitrose, like cardboard,
M&S no better.
for anyone near Bury, Bolton, Ashton,
Macclesfield, any Northern markets, do not take them for granted and please, send food parcels to us exiles in the south, having to survive on avocado, quinoa, venison, wagyu, tomahawk steaks and pistachio tiramisu, when we really want black pudding, haslet, oven bottoms, bunches of celery a mile wide, Leigh toaster cheese, thick rinded bacon, fat bangers, local belly pork, anyone else miss Northern markets?

That combo on an oven bottom sounds just too delicious. Am hungry now 🫣

lol
wish I had not started this, so many memories,
latent longings, licking lips

yes I could now fall on one of those muffins like a hungry wolf

I used to love New Berry Fruits. You can still get them but they're not at all the same.
They used to have a delicious fruit flavour, and a liquid centre. We used to buy a box for DH's auntie every Christmas.

My Mum loved these, and Black Magic Chocolates which I think are still available.

My boys used to love blancmange, especially the chocolate flavour, you could get a box of assorted flavours which included vanilla, raspberry, chocolate and butterscotch. They also loved home made semolina, our younger son disliked milk so these desserts were a way of making sure he had milk.

Pink junket.

My mother use to buy a bottle of "the stuff that makes pink junket", just add to warm milk and set. Haven't seen it since 1960.

I used to buy Little Miss Muffet junket rennet . I made the junket in the warming drawer of my oven . DH loved it I was not so keen.
