Has anyone heard from either of these two ladies recently? I know that EllanVannin was banned, but thought that she had been reinstated.

I miss reading their posts.

Who wants a predominantly Left-wing echo chamber?

Not me for sure JenniferEccles! This forum is like Grand Central Guardian most days. 😁

MiniMoon Tue 10-Mar-26 16:51:10

I was wondering about Gillybob and DurhamJen just yesterday. Northern ladies like me.

Susan56 Tue 10-Mar-26 17:02:03

I miss Gabriella and Gillybob too. Both seemed like lovely, kind people.

Another one whose posts I miss is Gabriella. She was so entertaining and sounded a kind hearted person too with the snacks and drinks she handed out to delivery drivers!
She lived near Guildford I think.

Some of her comments were probably deemed controversial by some, but that’s good surely?
Who wants a predominantly Left-wing echo chamber?

Or a right wing echo chamber, for that matter. I don’t think political leaning is a common factor amongst those who have left or been banned though, they seem to be from across the political spectrum? I wish people were more tolerant, and didn’t report, seemingly at the drop of a hat when somebody said something they thought was personal, because I think that’s the factor most likely to get a warning or banning,

I’ve poster this before but it’s worth saying again.
If you communicate with another member exchange email addresses.
When you are banned it’s instant, no ifs or buts.

Hi Anniebach 👋. Sorry about your arthritis. I used to enjoy our discussions about RF.grin.
I miss FannyCornforth.

JenniferEccles Tue 10-Mar-26 17:25:46

It certainly is FGT2
I often joke that the entire Guardian readership is on Gransnet!

Yes Gillybob is another one I miss. Her husband was seriously ill, around the end of 2019 if my memory serves me right. I believe she and her husband had their own engineering business in the north east somewhere.

She also used to talk about her grandchildren too, then really suddenly she stopped posting.
I don’t remember her ever being remotely controversial.

Taichinan is another missing from the good morning thread.

mancgirl Tue 10-Mar-26 17:55:44

Yes, always looked out for some of the missing posters. *Gillybobs"" Friday girl, was another one to look out for.

Maremia Tue 10-Mar-26 17:57:56

Thanks GG13

Grandmama Tue 10-Mar-26 18:21:04

I miss Germanshepherdsmum, she was knowledgeable and stuck to her guns. Gabriella always sounded rather elegant. There was Yorkshirelass some time ago.

crazyH Tue 10-Mar-26 18:26:26

Yes I do miss GSM - I thought someone said (I could be wrong ) that she is still here under a different name .. very helpful with legal issues …

FriedGreenTomatoes2 Tue 10-Mar-26 20:08:24

No, she isn’t crazyH
We email one another occasionally. She would love to be allowed back on GN.
She did appeal but access was denied.

valdavi Tue 10-Mar-26 20:37:10

There should be a petition mechanism for banned posters who are missed by the vast majority of us. I'd certainly sign up to get GSM back posting.

Personal appreciation should trump impersonal "one report too many" alogrithms on this sort of forum.

Millie22 Tue 10-Mar-26 20:54:21

I miss Gillybob and her Friday Girl cartoon each week. I hope she is well.

Blooming ridiculous!
All the spark is being knocked out of Gransnet bit by bit.
As if we haven’t got enough to cope with thanks to age and infirmity, we have to watch our Ps and Qs in case the pearl clutchers get the vapours.

GSM was a real asset to gransnet. Intelligent, strong views, very kind and always willing to share good legal advice. IMO there was a concerted effort to get her banned - why? Surely we ought to be able to disagree strongly at times without being deliberately nasty under the invisibility cloak

We certainly have to behave with more decorum than Mumsnetters!
Why?

FriedGreenTomatoes2 Tue 10-Mar-26 21:59:13

Because sheep are meant to be sheared? 🤔

Mamie Wed 11-Mar-26 06:40:57

I miss JessM and GrannyKnot. I guess those of us who have been here from the beginning are not so numerous now.

NotSpaghetti Wed 11-Mar-26 07:01:15

FriedGreenTomatoes2 - please can you pass on thar many of us are still missing GSM and her intelligent posts?

We did disagree sometimes but I was always happy to hear her point of view - always reasoned.

I know she was very helpful with actual facts, and very generous.

Not so long ago we had a poster on GN, Bijou who reached 100 and there was a thread where many of us congratulated her, sadly haven't see any posts from her lately. Another nice older poster, Printmiss, also disappeared a while ago.

I echo other posters such a shame not to see GSM or Ellan Vannin, I think we should perhaps remember the old adage "you can agree with all of the people some of the time but not all of the people all of the time" GN is a microchosam of life generally to be expected a range of views on just about everything.

Glad Anniebach still posts, inspite of debilitating arthritis smile

Because as old people it’s not seemly. 😂
I dread to think what the constantly offended would make of jingles 😱

And MissAdventure
Kalu
and of course Jura (in whatever reincarnation - I lost track of them over time there were so many!)

petra Wed 11-Mar-26 08:06:34

I spoke to MissAdventure a couple of weeks ago. She can still crack a joke despite being unwell.
