The joy has gone!

Thank you all so much for your good wishes. I am off to my daughter’s now for Christmas dinner. Thank god for family and thank god for grandchildren. x

How awful for you, Mande. Any unexpected death is a shock to the system so do look after yourself.

Driving or being a passenger is one of the most dangerous things we do (statistically) and yet we ignore that risk. Instead, we worry about flying - which is much safer.

Here in the UK, about 70 people are killed or seriously injured every day on the roads. It just doesn't truly register until it's somebody we know:
