I have already posted on here about being recently widowed and being on my own for Christmas this year which I was dealing with. However, for some reason the other day I decided, completely on impulse to book a break for the 3 days between Xmas and NY in a local hotel in my home town of Blackpool. It will be the first time I have ever been on a break on my own as I was married for 53 years and we did everything together. I think it will do be good, get me out of my rut and there will be entertainment on every night and meals provided at half the cost of the Xmas period, so I am starting a new tradition for myself. Most of the people there will be from other towns and hopefully they will be friendly But I am also nervous, looking forward to it one minute and dreading it the next. It doesn't help that people keep saying "going on your own" in a sympathetic voice Have I done the right thing I will let you know how I get on

Thank you all for your nice messages and good wishes. I am just getting ready to go on my break now, feeling a bit nervous but I'll be ok when I get there I'm sure. I'll let you know how I got on Monday.

Fabulous! Go, be free and do absolutely anything and everything you feel like or nothing if that’s what you want.

When my oldest grandson saw Judith , he held out his little arms and said "Nanny" smile

My mum was cross, because she couldn't stand her!

Went to Blackpool looking for an Indian restaurant. The policeman we asked laughed. Not for me but know you will have a fabulous adventure. When my mum was very ill I travelled a long way to help her and she put me in the Orwell hotel in Felixstowe. I was alone but made to feel very welcome.

BA Blackpool brought back happy memories of my childhood . When my dad his car we went to Blackpool every year to see the lights . Went for the day and after dinner changed into our pjs and dressing gowns . We had pillows and blankets on the back seat . Dad would drive down on side then the other so we could see all the lights . And then mom would make my brother and me a bed on the back seat no seat belts in those days and we would sleep on the 3 hour journey home .
When we had our own children took them from babies but only for a few years because my health got worse . But you saying about going to Blackpool brought all those happy memories back thank you.

I hope you are having a lovely time .
