Over the festive season we love nothing more than curling up with a good book and a box of mince pie or two. And this year there are some VERY good books indeed. So we asked all the publishers we work with to nominate one of their favourite reads to enjoy this Christmas. And here they all are in one handy list.
Better still - one lucky gransnetter can win the ENTIRE lot. Yup - that's every book featured on the page. Worth more than £500. In our book (no pun intended) that's a pretty fine haul at any time of year - and absolutely perfect for Christmas.
We just want to know where you like reading. Your answers will be put into the very large hat and a draw (made at random) will take place at midday on Weds 10 December - so the winner will receive their prize in plenty of time for the big day. All the details on the page
Getting to my favourite place to read a book is often a trial as there is normally a large black and white cat, seemingly full of cement, there already. If I have remembered to but catsticks, I'm lucky and can bribe him out, if not, I have to go and borrow next doors' forklift...and all this for a blissful read on my sofa!
We have a small rose harbour right at the bottom of the garden its a lovely warm sunny place when the weather is good with a handy sundial next to it to put my iced drink..lovely in the warmer months, by the log fire sitting in grannies old nursing rocking chair the rest of the time. BLISS.
I love reading in the bath with only candlelight in the winter. In the summer I love nothing more than finding a shady spot at the park to curl up in with a blanket and ice lolly.
Boring as it may seem, but I like to curl up in my bed with a good book and a nice cup of tea! Especially when all have gone to sleep & there's no one to disturb me.
This sounds like a fabulous prize, scrolling through the titles I can see everyone on my Christmas list happily taken care of, who made such a fabulous selection of books?
ooh now in the comfy chair in my frontroom, or the bath and then in bed if i can stay awake long enough plus in good weather i put my feet up in the garden
I love to read in my cosy summer house at the bottom of the garden. Peaceful, private, away from everyone, with just the chickens pecking at the door to come in and join me.
My favourite place to read is lying next to my son in bed under the duvet with a pile of his books next to us which we read together. We love the rhymes of Hairy McClarey, sing a long to Incy Wincy Spider and act out The Gruffalo. It is the best ...
I can lose myself in a book anywhere and everywhere but at this time of year there is the added bonus of a log fire to curl up beside with the curtains drawn to shut out whatever the weather gods are throwing at us at the time. During the summer we often take our books out when we go for a picnic and enjoy a good read once the repast is consumed. Have even been known to picnic and read inside the car when the weather had turned against us. In short a good book is great whatever the weather!
I can think of no better place than on the settee, with something strong and alcoholic on the table next to me, and my dog Rollo snuggled up beside me fast asleep.
We moved to the Norfolk coast in May so my favourite place to read in the summer is on a quiet stretch of beach with a flask of coffee and the sound of the sea. Bliss! Now the weather has turned colder I curl up in the armchair with my spaniel Millie next to me and the birds on the bird table squabbling away in the garden.
My favourite place to read during the winter is in my conservatory near the sea. Cuddled up with a warm fleece and soft cushions, the only sound I can hear are the seagulls. Having spent most of my life very close to Heathrow Airport wearing ear muffs to drown out the noise, my conservatory is a haven for reading in peace!
