Over the festive season we love nothing more than curling up with a good book and a box of mince pie or two. And this year there are some VERY good books indeed. So we asked all the publishers we work with to nominate one of their favourite reads to enjoy this Christmas. And here they all are in one handy list.

Better still - one lucky gransnetter can win the ENTIRE lot. Yup - that's every book featured on the page. Worth more than £500. In our book (no pun intended) that's a pretty fine haul at any time of year - and absolutely perfect for Christmas.

We just want to know where you like reading. Your answers will be put into the very large hat and a draw (made at random) will take place at midday on Weds 10 December - so the winner will receive their prize in plenty of time for the big day. All the details on the page

on the landing.. please don't ask why I have no idea. I often find myself sitting on the floor with a book there though.

But only if no-one else is in the house or I'd have to move every time someone went up or down the stairs.

Well bed features prominently for me too. A sun bed, also on a Greek island beach, sipping a white wine spritzer (with frozen grapes instead of ice cubes) Or in my own comfy bed with some of my husband's crackers and cheese with a nice glass of port.
You'll notice alcohol features in both!

I love to read in/on the bed as my bedroom is lovely and light.

In bed, snuggled under the duvet with a cup of tea.

In the winter snug in my bed but in the summer in my hammock out in the garden.....

Welcome to all new members grin

My favourite place to read is on our verriere especially when it is pouring with rain and blowing a gale. It's as though I am in the elements but still cosy and warm - bliss.

Wow. What an amazing assortment of books. Where is my favourite place to read? Well, at this time of the year, it is curled up in my chair beside our Rayburn, keeping snug in the kitchen. Nothing like it on a cold dark afternoon, looking out at the countryside as the light fades away. No leaves on the trees and often blowing a gale here at Windy Ridge. My favourite indulgence. :-)

Curled up on my sofa with a cup of coffee or on my allotment sitting on a bear chair soaking up the rays.

I always read in bed - every night, but I can read anywhere, any time. The only place I can't read is in the car (not when I'm driving of course!) I love to curl up somewhere warm with the latest book I've found - from a variety of authors. But my fav place to read has to be on the balcony of a cabin on a cruise ship on a sea day. Peace, quiet, looking out over the sea, but with drinks and food to hand without me having to make it!

Laying in a hot bubbly bath, with scented candles, a glass of wine and a good book - sooo relaxing!

I read books in bed!

As an adult, I read on trains going to and from work, and when I went on holiday. Now I'm retired, so I don't travel for work, but travel more for leisure; I still read away from home, but I find ebooks much easier to carry so they have taken over for this purpose.

But real books I like reading in bed, as I did when I was a child, but didn't have much opportunity for during my working life.

I love reading as I go for a walk

ChrissyW Thu 13-Nov-14 18:04:52

On my recently purchased new chair from a certain Scandinavian store, in my study, or should I say OUR study now that my DH has retired...can one no longer have a room of one's own?!

I like reading in bed, although sometimes find I end up staying up too late to find out what happens next.

carolynb Thu 13-Nov-14 18:11:21

I like to read curled up on my lounge sofa which reclines and a nice warm water bottle.

nanaid Thu 13-Nov-14 18:12:41

I love to read curled up on my sofa with my back to the window, warm and comfortable and with a good light to read in, and not too far from my kitchen and the kettle to make a nice hot drink to enjoy with my latest book.

Like many others, at this time of year I read in my comfy armchair with a glass of something close at hand. But in summer, in a deckchair on the beach at Cromer, with the sound of the waves and happy children running in and out of the sea.

magsmurphy Thu 13-Nov-14 18:13:42

My most favourite place to read is bed.

hatoum44 Thu 13-Nov-14 18:14:42

I love reading in bed but the trouble is I slip further and further down and, once I am practically prostrate, I have to re-position myself! But I can't get to sleep without a read, so there we go. I also read in bed in the mornings, with a cup of tea to hand.

Most of all I love reading curled up in a little red velvet busked seat, which has little gold egg-shapes as a pattern. This is in my sitting room, which has lovely morning sun. I also read there in the evenings, under my own special lamp which shines down from overhead.

I absolutely love reading - full stop - and always have at least two books on the go. A serious one for monthly book club and a lighter one for when I just want a good story and don't have to worry about serious aspects of the novel!!

Sitting in an extremely comfortable IKEA chair which rocks slightly, with my feet on the matching chair under the garden window at the back ofthe dining room. Sometimes it's so comfy the reading is forgotten and I am overtaken by sleep!

brawlass Thu 13-Nov-14 18:15:08

My favourite place to read is when on holiday in Madeira sitting on the balcony of our apartment in the sunshine with a cool glass of vino verde
beside me, at present its sitting beside our log burner stove with myCavalier King Charles spaniel on my knee.

melanietarot Thu 13-Nov-14 18:15:20

I like to curl up and see the amazing view from my huge lounge window. I never tire of the view which has been painted and won a prize. Even better when my stray black cat comes in for a sleep on my lap.

shysal Thu 13-Nov-14 18:16:31

I read in the bath for at least an hour each morning, sometimes enjoying a picnic breakfast in there too! I am an early riser, so it helps to pass the time.

lucycakeface Thu 13-Nov-14 18:17:05

I love to read a book on Dunwich beach on a warm sunny day, with the sound of the waves gently lapping up on the beach. There is nothing quite like it.

willsandco Thu 13-Nov-14 18:20:40

I have pulled in a really comfortable conservatory chair into the rear of the dining room just by the French doors, draped it with a cosy throw and moved the books around in the bookcase to accommodate a mat for teas, coffees or the odd glass of wine. It is heaven there curled up with a book and binoculars on hand to watch the wildlife in the garden!
