Over the festive season we love nothing more than curling up with a good book and a box of mince pie or two. And this year there are some VERY good books indeed. So we asked all the publishers we work with to nominate one of their favourite reads to enjoy this Christmas. And here they all are in one handy list.

Better still - one lucky gransnetter can win the ENTIRE lot. Yup - that's every book featured on the page. Worth more than £500. In our book (no pun intended) that's a pretty fine haul at any time of year - and absolutely perfect for Christmas.

We just want to know where you like reading. Your answers will be put into the very large hat and a draw (made at random) will take place at midday on Weds 10 December - so the winner will receive their prize in plenty of time for the big day. All the details on the page

My favourite author is Lesley Pearse, and my favourite place to read is in bed!

My favourite place to read my book is sitting the classroom when having silent reading for the form. They love to see me read as well and are always interested in the books I am reading! Encourages the kids to read different books and try something new!

When I'm at home, my favourite place to read is propped up in bed with a cup of tea beside me. When on holiday, it's got to be somewhere sunny, sitting with legs outstretched on a sunlounger - with a glass of something refreshing (and possibly slightly alcoholic) beside me!

In bed propped up by several pillows

I have two regular places. If I am alone in the house - except for my lovely labrador - I lie on the settee and read. This is usually a summer read.
But I also like to curl up in bed, with a hot water bottle, and read. My devoted companion, my labrador, is always with me. However I also carry a book in my bag, in case I have to wait somewhere. Any place, any time, any where!!! I love to read!

When I was young my favourite place to read was always in the loft! It was a big walk-about loft with a window in the roof. My Dad kept boxes of apples from the orchard wrapped in tissue paper there, so I always read my books while eating an apple. Now I pretty much only read in bed, but weather permitting there is a small bench, overlooking the harbour that is the perfect reading spot.

In bed everytime ,warm and cosy ideal for a read before dozing off !!

My favourite place to read is in my conservatory while it is raining outside.
I don't really need an excuse like miserable weather to spend a whole day reading but I love the comfort of a warm home and a book while the rain patters down on the world outside. I need to be snuggled on up in my slanket with a cuppa on the table beside me. Sometimes my dog will lay his head on my toes and snore.

At night I like to read in bed. It helps me relax and eventually I fall asleep.

Joyousjoy Thu 13-Nov-14 22:16:48

In the caravan - nice and cosy on a winters evening - with him indoors (or rather in caravan) and our lovely dog Amber.

I love reading in bed with a hot tea

simplyhannah Thu 13-Nov-14 22:28:10

I love sitting in my summer house in the sunshine - although not much chance of that at the moment, I'm more likely to be hugging a radiator!

Purpledaffodil Thu 13-Nov-14 22:44:20

Curled up with a new Marion Keyes on a squidgy sofa with a fire roaring dangerously up the chimney. Preferably with a nice mug of tea made by someone else.

Rosannie Thu 13-Nov-14 22:44:43

Late night in bed. On the sofa during the day if the rare chance appears.
Best of all I love parking up in a prime spot to collect the grandsons from school and reading in blissful isolation, can do two hours without being embarrassed!

I was given an old rattan bedroom chair by a chap who thought it was only fit for the tip,so I restored it and painted it matt black, covered the seat and painstakingly rivited the front with antique nails for effect, topped with a burgundy frilly cushion it is my favourite place to sit and read, feet can be resting on the edge of my bed and I can see out of bedroom window down on to The River across to Liverpool Skyline,oh and the door must be closed tight to keep out any interruptions.

I love to be snuggled up in bed on my own, and just get immersed in the book <3

Living as we do, way up in the high mountains, during the snowy depths of winter, there is nothing better than taking a good book and a hot drink up onto the mezzanine. There we have a lovely comfy sofa, just right for lazily enjoying good literature, and the warmth from the woodburner below creates a toasty hideaway. There, with the dog's head on my lap and my feet cosily swaddled in her thick fur, I can indulge my lifelong passion for reading - and I do!

Anytime, any place, anywhere! I've been at work today, so I read for ten minutes when I woke up, and over breakfast. Took the book to the staff dining room, and read while slurping my soup. Enjoyed a couple of chapters in the bath this evening, and now just on my way up to bed, with the book tucked under my arm. Heaven.

I don't really mind where I read, as long as I can read in peace, undisturbed. If pushed, I would probably say - snuggled up in bed.

futuregran1 Fri 14-Nov-14 00:35:35

I have a special comfy chair in the livingroom where I read once I've finished the housework. Depending on the book, I also read instead of doing the housework!
Thanks for the exciting prizes on offer.

I love to read in bed with my pillows stacked in the corner propping me up. So comfortable! Great reads on the list.

in cloud cuckoo land ?

Jenna Fri 14-Nov-14 00:46:48

My really really favourite place to read is on a sofa with my young grandchildren curled around me, all wide eyed as their storybook unfolds.
But when I am alone with a good book of my own, it matters not where I am so long as I am comfortable because if the story is compelling it takes me to wherever the tale is being told, and I forget my surroundings. A good book is a magic thing.

creativz Fri 14-Nov-14 02:42:49

I also absolutely love reading in bed, it's my favourite pastime, I also enjoy reading in the garden in the summer, anywhere will do as I read a lot, but reading in bed is the ultimate relaxation for me, any time of day or night, always with my dog and cats for their loving company and extra warmth, sometimes with a hot water bottle too smile I can't really express just how much it means to me, I adore the peace and quiet, the escapism that is BOOK BLISS, pure heaven !!

Nothing comes close to the happy memories of holiday reading as a child, amongst the sand dunes near Hemsby. However, if I find a book I enjoy, it does not matter where I am, but a comfortable chair helps.

Thank you for the list. I will look some of these books up if I am not fortunate enough to win this competition.
