The fact that after 60 years I appear to have 'grown out' of terrible hayfever and can finally enjoy the month of June, drinking in the great British outdoors, grass, trees, sunshine and all the lovely flowers colours and scents...I can now reclne on a garden chair and read under a parasol instead of behind closed curtains through puffball, sore and itchy eyes! I used to be able to set the clock for June 1st and would be in sheer sneezing, sniffling, misery until after my birthday, the 27th. Being 63 rocks!

Listening the birds sing, and children playing, while I sit and read in my garden bliss

The best thing about ( a sunny ) summer is being outside for reading, eating, playing games and sport, parks are full, beaches are crowded and everyone is happy.

I'm more of an autumn person myself but I do like to read a good book out in the garden in the shade. I just need some new ones for this summer please.

Meeting friends and family for spontaneous picnics in the park

Fabulous British strawberries.

Lovely long, lazy days of sunshine, seasides and maybe a glass of cool sparkling wine! Mmmmm Blissss!

Blue sky, warmth, all the flowers in blossom and the trees in leaf, then it's a beautiful world.

A good book, a Gin and Tonic and a lovely peaceful garden - a recipe for a well-earned relaxing afternoon.

My favourite thing about summer is simply the heat, be it home produced or overseas. The warmth of the sun has a wonderful healing effect on my rheumatoid arthritis and makes me feel fitter and healthier.

What I love most about summer is the long hours of daylight. Here in Scotland it stays light until very late at night, even if the summer weather is disappointing.

being able to get my washing dry on the line outside, sitting in the garden with a good book, taking my grandsons to the park

The best thing about summer for me is long summer nights and warm, balmy days. I'm a born optimist so very year I think, this year will be fantastic.

i just love sitting in the garden in the summer, dogs at my feet, my daughter playing and no technology in sight x

The best thing about summer are the long days and the long evenings, lots of extra daylight to invigorate and energise, so that when I go to bed and can't sleep, or wake early because its light I can lie quietly reading in natural light without any moans from my darling husband next to me. Bliss!

Trinity Tue 30-Jun-15 16:52:06

I like the longer days so that I can fit more in - and drying the washing on the line! It always smells so good.

kate1947 Tue 30-Jun-15 17:13:57

I love being able to hang my washing out to dry, reading a good book in the garden, taking my grandsons to the park or for a walk

Venus Tue 30-Jun-15 17:25:55

What I particularly like about the summer is the chance to actually use my outdoor pool! A considerable part of the year I never see it as it's covered up, but in summer it twinkles in the sun inviting the family to jump in and enjoy. The long evenings mean that the T.V. is put into retirement and we can all pretend that the lazy, hazy days of summer will last forever!!

Too hot to garden, so sit back with a good book and ignore the weeds - the wildlife appreciate the chaos!

Ally53 Tue 30-Jun-15 17:41:47

I love the sun and taking my grand daughter out on the beach. We have such fun

joanf Tue 30-Jun-15 18:02:34

I love going for long walks on summer evenings and perhaps stopping off at the pub on the way back and sitting outside with a nice glass of wine.

Fflaurie Tue 30-Jun-15 18:15:43

I love the summer when I can stop drying my hair, the warmth dries my hair naturally and I can let it be free.

Anghy Tue 30-Jun-15 19:49:33

More daylight hours and sunshine!

emasp123 Tue 30-Jun-15 21:52:11

I always enjoyed the school holidays with our children - well, after the first three days when we had settled into a routine and was ALWAYS sorry to see them go back to school. Now I enjoy spending time with my husband (retired) - not settled into a routine thank goodness and spending time with our grown up children and two young grandsons. Life is one long holiday whatever the time of year.
