To be published in January. Oh dear ?

Calendargirl Fri 28-Oct-22 13:27:36

I know he is still ‘Prince Harry’ of course, but if they really want to be independent, why not bite the bullet and publish under the name ‘Harry Wales’?

(Not quite so eye catching though)

Mind you, is he still ‘Wales’ or is he now just ‘Mountbatten Windsor’?

Really not sure.

We should all be eternally grateful that he wasn't the first born son.

It's not impossible that, had he been, he would have been schooled both educationally and culturally, quite differently.

Harry was good at soldiering was he not? I imagine some further training in his speciality whatever it was would fit him for paid employment. He is a healthy young man of good character.

Frankly, both of them are dead bores. The sort of people you avoid at partys and duck behind trees if you see them in the street.

The sooner they sink without trace the better.

His insufferable whining and whinging and woe is me attitude, whilst having spent the whole of his life in a position of privilege and good fortune and never knowing what it's like to have had to raise a family on low wages or benefits, is nauseating. Makes me sick.

"He is a healthy young man of good character"

What? His mental health is, by his own admission, hanging by a thread. As for his good character grin he and his wife are proven inveterate liars!

Feelings of deja vu. ?

‘A King’s Story - The Memoirs of the Duke of Windsor’ Autobiography written in 1951.

I wonder what his children will write about their childhood in a a few years? Will it be all sweetness and light or will they have their own hang ups about their childhood and parents, as they say "what goes around comes around"

It's not impossible that, had he been, he would have been schooled both educationally and culturally, quite differently.

He had exactly the same education as his brother but didn't gain any 'A' levels of his own so couldn't go to university as William did, but did (somehow) gain a place at Sandhurst. He had a gap year first like many young people. He's very good at sport.

Perhaps he would have benefited from going to Gordonstoun like his father and paternal grandfather instead of Eton like his mother's male relatives.

A King’s Story was riveting because we knew next to nothing about life behind palace walls and the love affair between Edward VIII and Wallis Simpson fascinated and divided the country. We know so much about Harry and Meghan, because that’s how they want it, that his book will have to shock us out of our boredom with their endless complaints for it to have any impact.

Most people will be more concerned about their rising bills and whether or not they can get a GP appointment.

Prince Harry left Eton College with two A level passes - a B in Art and a D in Geography.

Yes I know volver, I did say of his own.
Perhaps geography? It has come in useful with all the travelling he does.

Ah, OK.

I remember when he got them, all the scandal about whether his teacher had done the artwork.

I remember the outrage then that anybody could suggest that a member of the Royal Family was cheating.

But now he's blotted his copybook, I suppose it could be true.

You gotta laugh, haven't you?

Callistemon21 Fri 28-Oct-22 15:01:49

I do think he was probably a square peg in a round hole at Eton and Gordonstoun would have suited him better as he is so good at sport and seems to be the outdoors type.
Poor lad.

I shan’t buy the book, but will order it from the library

That is the biggest insult you can give an author because it means they will only get one royalty from the original sale!

Calendargirl Fri 28-Oct-22 15:02:37

There were rumours that his exam results were ‘helped’ by his teacher(s), not sure if that related to his A levels or GCSE’s.

His A level grades were not anything outstanding, but am sure he could have gone to university if he had wanted to.

He preferred to go into the army after his gap year, nothing wrong with that.

in that case I shall get mine from the library too.

Use Public Libraries to stop them being closed by the way.

Well, that’s too bad. My local library is usually quite busy, so it’s not just me insulting all these authors.

‘Finding Freedom’ was another one I borrowed. Thank goodness I didn’t waste hard earned money on such a silly book, and glad Omid Scobie? didn’t make any money out of me.

Actually, I thought authors did receive royalties from library lending, but I may be mistaken on this.

Absolutely not but I don't think he fulfilled the normal entry requirements for Sandhurst although it seemed to suit him.
It's a pity he couldn't become a long-term career officer.

Wasn’t there something about having to pass exams to further his career and it wasn’t likely that he’d be successful?

Calendargirl Fri 28-Oct-22 15:30:31

He probably didn’t fulfil the entrance requirements for Eton either Callistemon, but obviously it’s a coup if the son of the future king wants to come to your school/ workplace/ university, even if they’re not too brainy.

Don’t think Charles reached the standard to attend Cambridge, but he still went for a while.

All horses for courses I suppose.

Exactly Calendargirl, just like Lambrook School now feels like the cat who's got the cream with George, Charlotte and Louis attending, irrespective of their verbal reasoning scores.

I bet Charlotte's are top notch ?

Yes, and if she chooses to exit the RF as being a spare, I bet she will do it with good grace and style.

Apparently he needed exams to go any further in the Army and he wasn't bright enough to take them.
