Every charity shop I visit now has a few of these Richard Osman books. I passed my copy on too. Having read the first I have no desire to read any more of them. I think it only did well because we see him on TV so much, not because he is a great writer.

Had all four bought for my dh around Christmas time. Enjoyed the first three but not so much the fourth. Felt it would have helped if there were a list of characters at the beginning of the fourth. Realised I had forgotten the relationships between some of them and what had happened before. Not the main characters but some of the others.

I’ve read the first three books and waiting for my daughter to pass on the fourth . I’ve enjoyed them , easy reading and I like the main characters.
I’m surprised that the books haven’t been turned into a TV series . I imagine Julie waters as Joyce and Celia Imri as Elizabeth. I did think Dennis Waterman could play Ron but he’s dead now.
I also like the Strike books but they’re a different animal , gritty and dark .

I bet the Osman books will be televised at some point.
Good casting ideas, and shame that Waterman isn’t around to play Ron.I thought the older actress from Last Tango, Ann? Would be good for one of the parts, maybe Joyce, and Maureen Lipman as Elizabeth.

I think it is a film, the cast announced so far: Helen Mirren as Elizabeth, Pierce Brosnan as Ron and Ben Kingsley as Ibrahim. I think Penelope Wilton would be good as Joyce.

Yep I read that last week... Going to be on Netflix I believe. Looking forward to seeing it.

I'd like Pauline Collins for Joyce, possibly John Alderton for Stephen and Chris Hemsworth for the very attractive Bogdan

Didn’t realise the film was Netflix.

I won't be watching it then, as we don't have NF.
