Happy birthday, JessM! Like your family, mine don't exactly go overboard at my birthday either! My eldest daughter always remembers and gives me a card and a small gift, but my other daughter and my son never seem to get round to anything, though they do wish me a 'happy birthday'.
Good luck with your meeting and as it's your birthday I think you should have an extra portion of the cream tea!

It's a good idea to have a birthday on a memorable day. My family can't forget Guy Fawkes Day. One of my old school friends had hers on April 1st.

I have a grandson called Guy - guess what date his birthday is? I have another one born on 31st December - I always get him two separate presents but many people tell him they are just buying him one extra good one for Christmas. I think that is rotten!
One of my daughters has children with very easily remembered birthdays - 3rd April, 4th September, 5th November, 6th December- she spoilt it with No. 5 who was born on 11th October.

My senior GD's birthday is also hogmanay. I give her separate gifts, but as they are usually money they end up in the same bank account.
