I have just had an enjoyable time looking at soop's pictures and photos. Great paintings, and if I did not live here I would like to live there!

soop I love your pictures!

Can't stop - Milo and Luca (nearly 4) are coming for the day shortly. Got lots of craft materials out ready, pre-school maths lessons on the iPad (they love these!), and we have about 50 pencil crayons to sharpen!! In between, chocolate chip cookies to make. Happy days smile

Have uploaded three more pics for you. The cake was made by friend, Don [a man of far too many talents] envy It was made for local store/post office/filling station friends, on the occasion of their retirement. Every part was true to scale. The pumps made of marzipan. There were wee notices, created in icing sugar, of events advertised in the window. Callum plays golf. Cathy shows dogs at Crufts. No detail was forgotten. A true work of art. smile

Soop, that cake is fantastic, looks just like Clachan filling station.

number it certainly was a work of art. Don used 37 eggs...the whole was made up of various separate cakes. The attention to detail was amazing. Don has also made a vast dragon from scrap metal. He makes unusual jewellery...and, his perfect garden was open to the public recently. He raised approx £700 - gave half to the community hall and the rest to a charitable trust. Inbetween times, he's built a gorgeous chalet in his garden and a large pond. What a man!

What an absolutely fabulous creation he must be so talented I really enjoy baking but I do not have the patience to do something like this, I bet you all had a really good time with your celebrations.smile

glamma Yes, the village gatherings are always fun packed. We, as incomers, have been supported from the day we arrived. It would be difficult to find a friendlier village in which to settle. Don - the cook, gardener, builder, maker of jewellery, is far too clever. Whatever he turns his hand to, he's a genius. At the gatherings, the village children entertain the audience by playing a variety of musical instruments. At Christmas time, the same children bake individual cakes for every senior citizen. smile

soop Don sounds an absolute gem how lucky are you to have him living in your village (wishing he lived near us) the children must really enjoy xmas I think I may suggest something similar at church for the little ones to do for the older members of the congregation,it may put me in the good books with the Priest as he thinks I am a wee bit laid back for his taste blush

I'm so much happier than I was very recently. We've had long chats with our dear daughter-in-law and my son. We've a date set to travel to London, where we'll stay in a hotel. We'll have a weekend with our darling wee man and his mummy and daddy [separately]. Although I'm carrying a heavy weight around in the region of my heart, I feel strong enough to accept that our "little family" is no longer as we knew it. The changes and consequent upheavels have to be dealt with. Mr soop and I have enough love and compassion to share, without taking sides and making a sad situation so much worse. Thank you for many PMs , I really do appreciate your kindness.
