Morning, Bags! Yes, our huge Sainsbury's looks a bit like a ship dressed over all. Like it.

Bags Fri 01-Jun-12 06:24:14

Morning, ariadne. I particularly meant the gransnet bunting. smile

Ariadne Fri 01-Jun-12 06:26:37

Oh, yes! Hadn't noticed it, just got up and haven't drunk my coffee! Yes, Il like it too. Just enough to make the point.

I'm not sure about points (although it has those wink); it just makes me happy. There's something celebratory about bunting.....

smile

DD1 feels the same about those little cocktail umbrellas.

Aaah smile

always reminds me of the silver jubilee when Nellie and no2 had a practice honeymoon, bunting was everywhere, and there was excitement, and a carnival atmosphere everywhere.....the pre honeymoon wasn't nearly as exciting, but a lot of fun was had practicsing, until we had to explain to the owner of the caravan why the bed had collapsed and two legs had come off blush

Tell us more, nellie! smile

Thanx for pointing out the bunting Bags ...I like it too! Just a pity we haven't yet got a union flag emoticon to go with it!!

It's Ok ...I'm not usually around this early ...but requested a delivery from MyYodel today ...but seems they didn't tell the delivery man ...who has tried again yesterday!! hmm ...and to add insult to injury ...having spoken with him, he only lives round the corner from me!! Now it seems as if I've got to go to their depot. I'm not a happy bunny!

Gransnet bunting fine BUT lots of badly hung, tatty brought out for every occasion bunting around. I feel a desire to re-hang it! blush

At Mum's home lots of the residents' doorways have been decorated with bunting - it looks great!

Love the bunting and the flags. was a bit indifferent to the whole thing, but now thanks to DGD and DGS who are going to be with us this weekend, the house is festooned in red white and blue and she,Lily, is bringing her own flags to wave. I am baking a cake which we will decorate with red white and blue. Sheis so excited, I couldn't disappoint her- I don't think her brother at three is aware of it all. Weather permitting, we are off to a street party on Sunday.crown flag

Listened to BBC Newcastle this morning asking why it was great to be British[flag} and the answer I heard was we have great car boot sales. Turned off the radio at that point. I still, in spite of that level of intelligence on BBC Newcastle, believe that to be born British is to have gained the winning lottery ticket of life. Just been up to the far north of Scotland -hardly a Scot around at all but the Swiss Dutch Hungarians French Kiwis and Aussies saying what a wonderful place to work and play

Stansgran Fri 01-Jun-12 11:29:58

I meant flag

Very colourful and cheering, as if Gransnet isn't always a delight. Walking through the centre of the town where I live this morning, I was amazed to see that virtually everywhere had been bunted. Very colourful and cheering. flag

Yay! flag

dorsetpennt Fri 01-Jun-12 14:04:33

Our little area has come out well in the bunting range - I love it and I'm putting bunting in the shape of union jacks in my front window. Why not? The Americans show their flags as part of being patriotic so why not us Brits.
crown and flag. On a visit to my son and his family I was lucky enough to see the Gloriana moored at Richmond. It looked grand all red and gold.

Hurrah for crown and Union Flag flag Really looking forward to the flotilla. We were lucky enough to see the Hereford trow (boat used on the River Wye) being constructed in Gloucester docks. It was built with trees from Hereford; the builder chose the trees! They were restoring a fire-boat that put out the fire during the war at St Pauls to go in the flotilla too. Tomi Neilson who built the trow is rowing it. He also did the plumbing for the Queen's barge. flag flag ready!!
