I am really struggling to find classic smart (not black, I hate black) clothes, particularly long skirts, that I like. I used to buy from Elvi, which was fine for me but they closed down. Whenever I ask in shops they suggest Evans and I am afraid I find them horrid, and the waists are made for apple shaped people and are enormous on me. Help please form you lovely ladies out there x

I really like White stuff. I am a size 18 and love their clothes.

If I want to buy something smart I usually get what I want from Wallis and they do go up to size 20. I also buy from Principles, they have a Plus size range.

I like Masai and Sahara. They're a bit pricey but you CAN see if you can catch a sale.

I also recommend Eshakti. It's a website which has an enormous amount of styles available and you can order them either in standard sizes OR you can pay a small fee and enter your specific measurements and have them made to measure. You get the choice of length, can change necklines, vary arm lengths free of charge. All garments have pockets (if you want them). They also are not cheap (although not shockingly expensive) but the quality is astounding. Just be very careful that you pick your particular style. So far my success rate (as in, I like the clothes) is 50% with them.
