Should prisons be made harsher?.

Another thought I am having is prisons are not harsh enough to deter crime.
If beds were not provided and prisons were not heated this would save money and I am sure people would not offend again if they had to put up with these conditions for months or years.
There should be nothing like TV or any other non essential items.

absent confused men have to be phased out? Female executions? Needle craft?

Lilygran Only if they interfere with women ladies only activities. It should be made a criminal offence.

Decent, but basic conditions, enough food. No extras like Sky, it is supposed to be a punishment. I wouldn't like to see chain gains like America. Learning new skills would be good and education, education, education as someone once said.

Hi Bananas

The prisoners have a better life than me.
I don't have Sky TV.

Never mind Frank they probably only get Sky sports. Do you have a car?

I do have a car and it is taxed and insured.
It is used a lot for the benefit of my granddaughters.
It is paid for from my occupational pension.

But you can drive it where ever you please - price of petrol permitting. Count your blessings.

I do happen to agree that prisoners do get it easier than they should do. But if you treat someone like scum, they tend to act like scum.

Agreed, Nik! BTW, are you feeling better now?

Mother is on a more even keel, so yes thanks I'm feeling more able to cope. Dog sorted and happily rehomed (hopefully), and mum has decided to risk having a knee replacement. Her house is hopefully sold too and the flat 'she's' buying is progressing. Just have to sort her house contents now and fit a quart into a half pint pot!
