Yes, Marelli we love it here so much that we hope to never have to leave smile This is the best place to live and we have found retirement here to be rather wonderful.

annodomini Sat 23-Feb-13 17:06:05

It must be obvious what my given name is and as I was feeling my age, I decided to change to annodomini. Seemed appropriate at the time!

Well I am a granny and I live in the Jura mountains on the Swiss/French border.

POGS Sat 23-Feb-13 17:13:10

Mine comes from a 'dirty week end' in lovely Gloucestershire. For 'some reason' a village called Broughton Pogs became a silly word we shared.

Yes we did get wed but still use it. Too much information!! wink

kittylester Sat 23-Feb-13 18:47:35

My nickname in the family was Eggy. My brothers and sister still call me that,my first Gransnet name was Golden Gran, using my surname.

absent Sat 23-Feb-13 19:29:58

All my grandchildren were born and live in New Zealand. My eldest grandson decided to call me grana, so I became absentgrana when I joined gransnet. Then I unsubscribed from gransnet for a little while and when I returned, I just selected absent – an abbreviation people had been using for a year or more anyway.

NannaAnna Sat 23-Feb-13 20:02:30

Anna, who has opted to be called Nanna by grandchildren. You could call it lack of imagination or originality wink

Deedaa Sat 23-Feb-13 20:27:23

Mine is what my grandson used to call me. It used to be his version of Cranky the crane on Thomas the Tank Engine and apparently decided it would do for Granny too. smile

grannyactivist Sat 23-Feb-13 20:58:35

I have always been a bit of a campaigner; for years I've quietly been sending off postcards, letters, emails etc. and signing petitions and even joining an occasional demonstration. Then a few years back I just decided that it's not enough to be an 'armchair' campaigner any longer and began to get more active; hence my name. smile
