on Sunday, then I believe it will show that this country has lost any small semblance of moral decency it was holding onto. And that the heads of a national institution have let all thoughts of ethical reasoning go out of the window in favour of political correctness.

I can only hope that it doesn't make number one.

But, my God, this country has sunk to an all-time low.

Very sad.

O.K. Sel, if you want to split hairs, who was being passive aggressive?

Sel Mon 15-Apr-13 15:09:31

I've never been accused of being a hair splitter before Greatnan. I know you are a wise person with multiple experiences, may I suggest you read the posts and see if you think anyone could be described as passive aggressive. We all have our own opinions.

Greatnan Mon 15-Apr-13 15:17:05

What on earth have my experiences got to do with the price of fish? You made a remark that could be considered derogatory about a group of people -surely the onus is on you to tell us what you meant?

Eloethan Mon 15-Apr-13 15:38:21

Sel First you say people are being ganged up on, and then that they are being subjected to passive aggressive tactics. When you are asked to give examples, you decline.

Earlier in the thread, I gave examples of the sorts of uncalled-for remarks that people of your "persuasion" were making. If you're unable to substantiate the accusations you make, it would be better not to make them.

Do you know, I've always thought it was, "the price of potatos" but it seems it should be "price of fish". #anyoldproduct

j08 Mon 15-Apr-13 16:50:58

And I read that as 'anus' #kindlefire

Nonu Mon 15-Apr-13 16:51:51

Grannylin Mon 15-Apr-13 17:03:35

According to wiki:
US,What's that got to do with the price of eggs? / British, fish/ Scottish, cheese/ Irish, sausage!

j08 Mon 15-Apr-13 17:06:29

No potatos then! hmm grin

Movedalot Mon 15-Apr-13 17:16:47

Just got to the bottom on page 9 and feel I must comment.

"a woman who delighted in divisiveness" is a description of Mrs T. How can you possibly know? and then "And just hurling insults at people" addressed presumably, because of what went before, at those who find the qhole thing distasteful. Imo both sides are as bad as each other.

And as for all the guff about teachers, they are just as good and bad as the rest of the population. Not all saints and not all sinners.

A little objectivity is necessary.

I'll now read the rest.

Movedalot Mon 15-Apr-13 17:23:59

Now I've got to the end! I think it is priceless to push someone to answer a question when some of the most vociferous posters disappear from the thread when they are challenged. You know who you are!

Movedalot Mon 15-Apr-13 17:26:13

Forgot to say I agree with the statement that this country has sunk to an all time low. Dignity has dissappeared and empathy has gone with it. The arrogance of thinking you understand the feelings of people you have never met is most distasteful.

Mamardoit Mon 15-Apr-13 17:39:52

I dislike anyone who uses the word 'moron' to discribe people they have never met.

I have not noticed a thread like this on GN before. There are plenty like this over on MN! Do GN have their own 'royalty' too?

j08 Mon 15-Apr-13 17:43:41

No. Apart fromsoop

Movedalot Mon 15-Apr-13 17:51:20

Marmadoit, yes we have threads like this. I don't know about MN as I don't go there. Not sure what you mean about 'royalty' but if you mean those who have been on GN for a long time and feel they can decide to critiscise particular posters no matter what they say, then yes we do.

An example recently was when I showed sympathy to someone who has onle ever been unpleasant to me and then made a helpful comment on another thread for one of her relatives and she responded with sarcasm. Some people simply don't respond to kindness and I can only feel sorry for them.

We do also have some lovely supportive threads and also some very silly fun ones. Just take your pick.

gracesmum Mon 15-Apr-13 17:54:26

Well, this is getting more and more like the Gauls vs the Romans in an Astérix book! The sight of mature women handbagging each other , for heaven's sake!! You know whoever it was who said "When I hear the word culture I reach for my gun"?? Well, when I hear the accusationphrase "ganging up" I am tempted to reach for the OFF button.
"Please Miss, they're ganging up on............" What possible satisfaction does this behaviour afford? angry

Mamardoit Mon 15-Apr-13 17:55:07

Yes that's what I mean by royalty!
