on Sunday, then I believe it will show that this country has lost any small semblance of moral decency it was holding onto. And that the heads of a national institution have let all thoughts of ethical reasoning go out of the window in favour of political correctness.

I can only hope that it doesn't make number one.

But, my God, this country has sunk to an all-time low.

Very sad.

This is just beyond me.

Unbelievable.

I think I'd better ask gransnet to ban me once and for all. I just can't think like you do.

Elegran Tue 16-Apr-13 15:18:32

Fourteen pages.

gracesmum Tue 16-Apr-13 15:21:13

Is this a record? But maybe not the most felicitous turn of phrase given the thread title!!grin

Greatnan Tue 16-Apr-13 15:44:02

Jingle, I accept that you were not thinking of the Boston explosions, but it would probably have been better if you had just said 'Oh, sorry, I wasn't thinking about that'.
And I also often have the feeling that I am talking (or not) to somebody I have spoken to before under a different forum name. Confusing, isn't it?

Galen Tue 16-Apr-13 15:48:37

I agree.

Suggesting that you might blow up someone, i.e. kill or injure them, is not funny at any time; it is especially crass when people have been killed or injured by bombs the day before. I suppose it is possible for someone to comment about blowing up someone else without making the connection with what had just happened in Boston even though it was all over the media all the time. That's not the way my mind compartmentalises, I'm glad to say. To attack me for pointing out that this was a distasteful and unfunny thing to say is a ludicrous and puerile response. For your little group of followers to chime in with their pennyworth of abuse was predictable but extremely sad.

gracesmum Tue 16-Apr-13 16:40:04

Does 2 people constitute a group Absent?? I think the consensus was that it was ill-timed and ill-judged.

Nonu Tue 16-Apr-13 16:43:40

Good Lord , this is turning into an almighty behemoth , I do not think it behoves you gracemum , to tell jo to apologise .

veryconfused

gracesmum Tue 16-Apr-13 16:49:08

Why not? I thought it a more than reasonable suggestion - does anybody else have your blessing to suggest it then? I think the attack on Absent was much more vivious and unjustified, but I leave that up to you, Absent. NOMB

gracesmum Tue 16-Apr-13 16:51:22

Really can't type today that was clearly meant to be vicious - and I note that Greatnan among others made the same suggestion. But it's not OK for Gracesmum - ah well.

absent Tue 16-Apr-13 16:55:43

gracesmum I did say little group. grin. However, I still have steam coming out of my ears about some of the things that have been said about me on this thread. angry

Nonu Tue 16-Apr-13 17:00:55

What on earth do you mean Grace , why on Gods sweet earth would anyone need MY blessing .

People as far as I can see , go their own sweet way .

The opinions some times concur , sometimes they don"T

Get real.

gracesmum Tue 16-Apr-13 17:01:53

Explain "Get real" please.

Nonu Tue 16-Apr-13 17:03:13

Elegran , and counting , sad to say .

j08 Tue 16-Apr-13 17:03:50

I wonder if you all watch too much telly during the day and see too much news too often. So that it's foremost in your minds all the time.

Just trying to account for it.

Nonu Tue 16-Apr-13 17:04:32

Gracemum , Google ? a tool that is mightly useful

j08 Tue 16-Apr-13 17:04:35

OR!!! Perhaps you are all just bonkers.

gracesmum Tue 16-Apr-13 17:05:47

I did also ask why I was singled out in your ciriticism "I do not think it behoves you.....etc" but you haven't seen fit to answer. and your response: "The opinions some times concur , sometimes they don"T
fails to enlighten me.

gracesmum Tue 16-Apr-13 17:07:15

Perhaos I didn't make myself quite clear - would youo be so kind as to explain the relevance of your comment Get Real.
Mightly?? Mightily?

absent Tue 16-Apr-13 17:09:26

j08 It doesn't seem especially relevant but for the purposes of clarity, I watch about 30 minutes of BBC Breakfast in the morning and occasionally watch Pointless in the afternoon. I never watch television in the evening or indeed at any other times than those I have mentioned. So no – the deaths of three people and the injury to more than 140 others are in my mind simply because they are such terrible things.

What the hell are you trying to account for? You said something that was really rather stupid and now you want to suggest that it was someone else's fault.

j08 Tue 16-Apr-13 17:09:58

Yes. Definitely barmy.

j08 Tue 16-Apr-13 17:12:14

Eeuuurrgh! You watch breakfast tv! And Pointless! (dunno what that is)

j08 Tue 16-Apr-13 17:14:02

I'm trying to account for all the flipping' fuss. #greatschemeofthings

gracesmum Tue 16-Apr-13 17:21:23

Jo8 - at about 9.45 you started a thread about the Boston bombs and at 11.07 you made your "joke" about blowing someone up. Not on your mind? How could you dismiss this outrage so quickly? Don't pretend others are the only people aware of how ill-timed and ill-judged your flippant remark was. This is also a PUBLIC forum where anybody can read our posts. So could you and anybody else who wants to back you up and defend your comment just accept that the responsibility for it lies, however unintentionally, with you, yourself.
Can we move on now?

j08 Tue 16-Apr-13 17:25:25

I didn' t dismiss anything. I went into the gardens and planted some violas. #yougettingdesperatetrackingmythreads
