... getting ready & thinking through my 3 min slot in 2 hours time telling Local Authority Chief Exec & 'partners' (I hate that word) that the Volunteers they could be using may look like old grannies but are so much more than the official 3 day course training them for this particular volunteer role (as Restorative justice facilitators).

What are you avoiding by going on Gransnet?

grin

The others are all lovely kind protectors of the whole human race. smile

We never did get a finger-down-throat emoticon, did we?!

bluebell Wed 15-May-13 20:45:20

Goodness still here - what's up HQ?

Giginanna Wed 15-May-13 20:54:53

Guess I was just a newcomer and not very welcome!

j08 Wed 15-May-13 20:57:59

Well.............you do need to be able to stand a bit of heat.

j08 Wed 15-May-13 20:58:52

Especially from that bluebell! grin

MiceElf Wed 15-May-13 20:59:45

Oh you're welcome Gigi, please stay around and ignore those who seem to have forgotten the conventions of civilised discourse.

The problem is unique to that particular poster.

j08 Wed 15-May-13 21:00:32

smile

bluebell Wed 15-May-13 21:02:51

She means J08 not me (I hope). Some types of comments might be more expected on posts which engender strong feelings but I felt, and still feel, that the sick bucket comment was not merited on this particular thread

baubles Wed 15-May-13 21:04:24

Giginanna, welcome to Gransnet. Please stick around smile

MiceElf Wed 15-May-13 21:06:24

Quite right Bluebell. Quite disgraceful.

Elegran Wed 15-May-13 21:11:03

It wasn't. Bluebell

JO8 are you still in fighting mood after the Steve Jones thread? He's gone now, you can relax.

Tegan Wed 15-May-13 21:11:49

Welcome Giginanna. J08; I'm apalled and disgusted by your comments to a new poster. What right do you have to speak to someone like that who has just joined?

bluebell Wed 15-May-13 21:14:12

Try telling HQ - they didn't want to know but quickly deleted two of my posts criticising JO8's comments.

MiceElf Wed 15-May-13 21:16:15

The forum guidelines require those who post to be as courteous here as they would be face to face. It seems to me that courtesy was sadly lacking and the guidelines have been transgressed by Jo numbers.

j08 Wed 15-May-13 21:16:21

Two Have I missed another one?!

bluebell Wed 15-May-13 21:17:51

Yes JO8 you did and I can't tell you how sorry I am ( that you missed them both)

j08 Wed 15-May-13 21:18:53

Don't worry. I can imagine. smile

bluebell Wed 15-May-13 21:19:31

Why didn't HQ delete the comment then MicElf I wonder?

bluebell Wed 15-May-13 21:20:16

JO8 - do you EVER apologise?

Tegan Wed 15-May-13 21:21:42

Why should she when she alone seems to have a special dispensation from HQ to be rude to people?

j08 Wed 15-May-13 21:24:02

Don't insult me! I have loads of posts deleted!

MiceElf Wed 15-May-13 21:24:41

Sometimes, when there is a very naughty girl in lessons, the teachers allow more leeway to her than to others from whom they expect more.

The analogy may not be completely accurate, but it fits the dynamic.

Ana Wed 15-May-13 21:24:47

MiceElf, you said:

"The forum guidelines require those who post to be as courteous here as they would be face to face. It seems to me that courtesy was sadly lacking and the guidelines have been transgressed by Jo numbers"

Why did GNHQ then see fit to delete two of bluebell's posts? And not J08's? Surely it would seem that bluebell's posts transgressed the guidelines?

MiceElf Wed 15-May-13 21:29:32

My view is that the 'sick bucket' comment was lacking in courtesy. And that's at its lowest level.

Tell me, do you think that comment was courteous?

Why did they delete the posts which Bluebell made? I have no idea. I don't moderate this forum. But HQ are not infallible.
