Not sure I would How do people think of these weird things?

Wonder if it could be classed as religious. Or not?

Elegran, just done the same, and I can't see it either. Some would not mind, some would like it, some would not - on a Forum we just have to agree to disagree surely?

I'd say depends on town or setting. I would not mind it at all- much better than the advertising you usually see in towns.

I wouldn't really mind. Just don't break dancing. There is so much of it - done badly - these days.

j08 Fri 14-Jun-13 18:29:11

I meant "don't like" break dancing hmm

granjura Fri 14-Jun-13 18:38:48

I also dearly wish one could comment on a thread or a post - irrespective of the writer. The fact I do, or do not, usually agree with someone, should not automatically apply to all posts. There are people who I usually disagree with - but if they make a good comment, irrespective of previous disagreements, I'll say so. Even if it does not agree with someone else.

I don't like the mural but I don't consider it offensive. It's just a bit silly and comic book.

That's a nice song - "I am the Lord of the Dance said he". Just not sure about the break dancing............

j08 Fri 14-Jun-13 20:21:36

That mural is all to do with some people break dancing for the Pope at the Vatican. I think. #methodinitsmadness

Gold glitter sounds nice!

Elegran I make no apology for being sensitive on behalf of others,

Granjura me too.

Yes. I guess it could be very upsetting to some people. And would n' t be tolerated by many other religions.

I wonder what the local churches think of it.

What would Mohammed look like break dancing? What does he look like anyway? confused

j08 Sat 15-Jun-13 13:48:44

Or a Buddha. Break dancing.

NfkDumpling Sat 15-Jun-13 19:55:42

I think the Buddha may be a little too laid back - he might sway a little in a mystic sort of way.

granjura Sun 16-Jun-13 15:29:58

I'd hope that the local Churches would agree that Jesus was a man of the people, irrespective of the type of dance they enjoy. A man for young people, in the inner cities too. I must say a lot of pictures of Jesus looking angelic, and ultra feminine and with a smile as though he'd been smoking pot all day, with rays coming out of this head, seems a lot more 'insulting'.

Nelliemoser Sun 16-Jun-13 23:32:38

In islamic tradition you just don't make images of Mohammed. its not considered proper.

Apart from that though, why not have Christ break dancing? Do any Christians feel that Christ might not have enjoyed a party or that he did not have a sense of humour.

I cannot see that in anyway that it could be offensive. Unless dancing itself is regarded as unseemly by some Christians. Actually I think it might be by some christian factions!
Dancing went down well at our chapel socials.

granjura Mon 17-Jun-13 09:56:06

Remember the film 'Footloose' - about a town in USA where music and dancing was banned by ultra Christians?

Bags Mon 17-Jun-13 11:19:25

Weren't some Methodists against dancing and singing sort of activities at one time? Possibly still for all I know.

Greatnan Mon 17-Jun-13 11:35:19

Do we have any clue as to what type of personality Jesus was?

Nelliemoser Mon 17-Jun-13 12:17:34

Not in our Methodist church 50yrs ago. They might have been way back. I think the puritans certainly were, I am not sure about the Scottish Presbyterians, they seem to be a bit "proper" watch what you do on Sunday etc.

Nelliemoser Mon 17-Jun-13 12:21:28

Well Christ reputedly livened up the wedding at at Cana by turning water into wine. He clearly wasn't a Methodist at the time! wink

Movedalot Mon 17-Jun-13 12:48:31

In one of my dance books years ago I read that there are more references to dance in the bible than to music so Christians who sing shouldn't have any problem with dance.
