I thought it would be a good idea to open a thread where those of us who are upset by this news can comfort each other. Better to share thoughts here and leave the IMPORTANT thread for on-going efforts to find her.

Me too, sunflower! Good morning - and let's hope it is a good one.

petallus Sat 02-Nov-13 05:22:43

Thought I'd check since I am awake.

My thoughts are with Carol's family and friends. It must be gruelling for them.

Very impressed with the GNetters who are doing so much.

Hello Ariadne, another night bird. I know I'm going to regret the lack of sleep during the busy planned day to come! But when something's on your mind, you might as well get up, if you know you aen't going to sleep.

Am thinking now of snuggling on sofa with cats to try to get a few more zzz's.

And when I return to GN, please let there be some good news for her family and friends.

Another insomniac here who crept down to check, convinced there would be news. Alas!

My thoughts keep turning to Carol's estranged daughter as well as the rest of her extended family. They must all be suffering such agonies. I wish there was some comfort for them.

First thing I have done on waking is to check on my iPad if there is any more news. So many thoughts for Greatnan and her family.

moomin Sat 02-Nov-13 07:09:32

Same here, same every morning since she disappeared. What it must be like for Greatnan's family can only be imagined.

Please, please let there be some news today

AlieOxon Sat 02-Nov-13 07:17:13

I guess we can still hope.

Lona Sat 02-Nov-13 07:27:27

Surely there will be some news today.

bluebell Sat 02-Nov-13 07:34:29

At least it's the weekend - more people out and about

LizG Sat 02-Nov-13 07:35:06

Please God let us have positive news today. Maybe today Carol will turn up at your home, tired after a week's jaunt, wondering what on earth has been going on. PLEASE

glassortwo Sat 02-Nov-13 08:03:38

Morning all I have held off logging on until now, been along night with all sorts spinning around my head. Yes lots more people around so more chance of a result.

LizG Sat 02-Nov-13 08:11:22

Sorry I didn't mean 'your' home but 'her' home. Tiredness rules today I suspect, as with everyone else xx

bikergran Sat 02-Nov-13 08:27:19

let's hope that before evening we get some good news,

sunseeker Sat 02-Nov-13 08:43:12

Not posted on this thread before because there is nothing I can do (although I did email the DM suggesting they run the story). First thing I did when I got up was log on to see if there was any news. Praying that today is the day we all hear something

Morning, folks. So good to see how many of us are waiting for some news. I have had a lot of pms offering support and asking how they can help. Thank you so much, all of you who are helping to keep morale up and keep re-tweeting, Facebookng and generally spreading the word.

One pm contains this paragraph, which I thought I'd repeat here.

I have this abiding feeling that all the chatting Carol does when she meets people on her walks is going to pay dividends. Hunting groups will spread the word - she was chatting away to one group with their dogs when we went up one of several mountains during my stay. They're bound to remember her. Likewise, walkers - she always made a point of startng conversations, and could impart a lot of local, mountain information. So many people must be exclaiming 'I remember that woman!'

I am a "Lurker" but have been on Gransnet since the beginning. I dont post because there always seem to be people who have more of a way with words than I, Greatnan being one. I have read of her adventures and feel as if i know her. I have prayed all week that she would be found and have posted the missing posters on various sites that i am on. Please God find Greatnan

BAnanas Sat 02-Nov-13 09:12:30

Fingers crossed and thinking about her.

Mishap Sat 02-Nov-13 09:22:14

So sorry to see there is n new this morning - let us hope for better things today.

kittylester Sat 02-Nov-13 09:38:08

I've got nothing to add really, just wanted to 'be' here.

nightowl Sat 02-Nov-13 09:41:52

Same here kitty. Where the heck are you Greatnan?

NannyPam Sat 02-Nov-13 09:53:06

Greatnan was the first in my thoughts when I woke up this morning. Hoping for some good news today

whenim64 Sat 02-Nov-13 09:53:57

Hi all. Can you help, please? The pms are coming thick and fast and I'm struggling to answer them all in a helpful way. If anyone has a query, could you please post it on here where a few of us might possibly be able to address it?

I don't want anyone to think they aren't being listened to, and I'm conscious that if I have to go out, the pms will be sitting there, when they might contain something significant.

Of course, if it's something factual, has an idea or suggestion about finding Greatnan, please use the IMPORTANT Greatnan Missing thread. Thanks.

Grandmanorm Sat 02-Nov-13 09:55:31

First place to visit this morning. I dreamed about Greatnan, don't suppose I shall be the only one.
It is amazing how close this loss is bringing us all together.
Stay safe Greatnan, wherever you may be.

I wish I was in France, where I could be sticking posters in every available space! There will be more people in the area this weekend, but will they know to look out for the car? I hope I am wrong in guessing that the French media coverage is still sparse.
Will join the mass 'positive thought' at 12 noon.

Minty Sat 02-Nov-13 10:13:53

This is social media at its best, everyone pulling together sharing their ideas and contacts.
Never give up hope, and keep doing what you are all doing.
Special thanks to those of you who are being so proactive.
