I've only recently found Gransnet, but I think you may already have saved my life. I've spent the last couple of days reading through many, many threads and discovered that there are some very wise and warm Gransnetters out there who really do seem to listen and care. And although I haven't really posted anything about myself, I'm beginning to feel that, if I need an ear - which I sometimes do - you're there with your wisdom and warmth. Knowing that has chased away some dark clouds. So thank you.
Welcome, Dragonfly1 - what a beautiful name - it conjures up summer days, flitting through life happily... I am finding Gransnetters are wise, caring and comforting: and I speak as someone who's needed to bare her soul a few times. I am so glad I found this site! Hope you feel at home here
What a glorious name Dragonfly (as Rowantree has said!)
Hope you find your way round the site OK and enjoy the banter, wisdom and support which is always available on here. I can recommend the competitions too - some cracking prizes to be won and we even get to know who has won them AND sometimes it's someone familiar!
No point at all, phoenix! Thank you all for your lovely warm welcome. I hope I get to know you a bit better as time goes on, maybe meet up in soop's kitchen. You've made my day considerably brighter, bless you all.
Delighted to meet you Dragonfly - welcome. You certainly will find a warm welcome here and all kinds of wisdom, and daftness (who? who?), in equal measure. It's done me a power of good, I hope it can do the same for you. In the meantime, I'm about to put some left-over Santa Hat Brownies, from another GNetter's recipe, in soop's kitchen, if you'd like to bring a plate and take some home.
Hello dragonfly and everyone on gransnet. I have also been lurking for a while and ha ve been so happy to find such warm and supportive people on here. Its good to know there is always someone around for a chat or a virtual cup of tea if I feel I need company. Bit slow with the new tablet though.
Just read Dragonfly1's comment to Icy I must be getting tired because I read: How Icy is you little granson now? Joking aside I too hope he is doing well.
Hello grandma60 and welcome. Cuppa coming you way along with left overs from my family gathering today. Cold ham (home baked) Salmon with an orange, ginger and brown sugar glaze, sausage rolls and much more.
dragonfly your name reminds me of a Fawlty Towers episode where Basil bet on a horse of that name and then went to great lengths to prevent Sybil finding out that he had won some money on it!
