Just wanted to say hello, to you all.

Im new to Gransnet. Made redundant at the the age of 54 and a little lost, so looking to make new friends. Hope I am in the right place?

Hello carrieon and welcome to Gransnet. Have a wander through the threads (I usually click on the Active threads or Last Day at the top of the page) and start posting, you'll soon find your feet. smile
Redundancy is horrid at any age and there are a few Gransnetters who have been in your position - although apart from the finances sad it seems that GN is a pretty good alternative to working. grin

Thanks for that,

I have only just joined and it seems everyone is really friendly.
Really pleased I came across this site I had started to sink a little.
Thanks.

Don't worry, we are all waving here and if you think you're drowning you'll get a lifeline.

You too!
It may take me a while to find my way around the site.

Welcome Carrionshopping, I am a fairly recent joiner too and have found this forum to be helpful, supportive, kind and often very funny! But do beware, it is addictive......you just keep having a quick check........grin

Dragonfly1 Tue 11-Feb-14 14:59:41

Welcome Carrie - I'm still a bit of a GN rookie but do find it a friendly and supportive place to visit. And often a bit of a giggle. And a bit addictive so be warned!

Ariadne Tue 11-Feb-14 15:03:30

Hi there, carrie and welcome! I can't imagine life without GN.

NanKate Tue 11-Feb-14 15:05:26

I am relatively new to the website site Carrieon and in just 2 weeks I have become hooked.

In that time I have found out how to stop my nails flaking, have found out about scary books to read, have recommended a great series of books by Elly Griffiths, have sent in a Blog which will be published on Gransnet when there is a gap, have discussed the weather most days and added my favourite films to the list ...now that is just for starters !

Within a week you will be an 'old hand' at it.

So a BIG welcome.

Aka Tue 11-Feb-14 15:08:19

Welcome to all newcomers. Just beware it can be addictive.

carrieonshopping Tue 11-Feb-14 15:13:14

Thank you all.
Hope we will all keep intouch
smile

Charleygirl Tue 11-Feb-14 15:13:18

A warm welcome from me also. As others have said, you will be addicted to GN within a short period of time and if you look at Phoenix's Sluts Corner, sorry, not sure of the title, you will find many ways to avoid housework while looking through the posts.

carrieonshopping Tue 11-Feb-14 15:22:09

Will do Charleygirl.
wink

janthea Tue 11-Feb-14 15:30:29

Welcome carrie pull up a chair, your going to need one now your here !

Bellasnana Tue 11-Feb-14 16:19:59

Hi carrie welcome from me too. Like NanKate says, it's amazing how many things you learn on here. Personally, I have discovered a new type of lipstick, been shamed into using my slow cooker, used an epilator on my face( ouch!), tried out other members recipes amongst other things and all since I stumbled onto Gransnet a few months ago. I feel as though I know some of the 'regulars' and enjoy reading what they are doing. It is also comforting to read of others in similar situations - in my case our only DGD lives 6,000 miles away and it has really helped me to hear how others cope.
Anyway, hope you enjoy yourself on here. flowers

Hello Carrie and welcome. I have found the site very rewarding with lots of fun and ideas, and masses of support during the last year which has been difficult for us. Always a cheerful voice on here to keep you going.

We do not always agree (I think I am banned from any threads about dogs because everyone knows I hate them!) but there is respect for others' views and humour in abundance. I hope you will find that you enjoy your time on here.

shysal Tue 11-Feb-14 16:39:06

Welcome from me too Carrie. flowers
