What do we all look like ?

I often have in my mind's eye how a Gransnetter looks from the way she/he writes and of course that is an absurd and not based on anything but my imagination.

However last week the Winner of the Great British Bake Off, Nancy Birtwhistle, looked to me as if she would be a great candidate for this website. I wondered also if she was already one of us. hmm

She could very well be couldn't she Nankate I do enjoy seeing what our blue nanna's look like when they post their pictures.

I quite agree - I have some clear pictures of people here too. There are a couple who I always imagine wearing their pearls, some whose Greenham Common t-shirts may be safely folded away, but still have the multi coloured tie-dye hair streaks. One or two are fiercely efficient and immaculately presented, another who is just FIERCE! Actually I imagine quite a few like Nancy Birtwhisle, who I thought was fantastic. (Me? That would be telling.....)

Nancy was a million miles away from the image some people have of grandmothers and yet what brought her to the public's attention? Baking!!

She had a lovely family. I loved the shot of her grandson who was beside himself with glee when she won.

I'm stunning but you'll just have to take my word for that. No pics on my profile yet. grin

You won't catch me putting a mug shot of myself or family on here! I do have some pictures in my mind of how you all look, sometimes quite accurate when I look at your lovely profiles. I just can't picture Jingl being the age she states, her writing style seems to be that of a lively young person so that is how I think of

Icyalittle Sun 12-Oct-14 17:47:36

I'm a bit nervous about posting personal photos too. Not sure why, but it seems a bit too 'out there'.

Icyalittle Sun 12-Oct-14 17:49:05

Quite agree about Jingl I think she's really a 40 year old gran in disguise.

I'm a bit wary, because I have used my own name so worry that someone might track me down. Notably MiL.

janerowena Sun 12-Oct-14 17:59:10

Maybe I had better change my name!

I don't tell friends about this website as I feel it is a place I can be 100% me and say what upsets and amuses me without fear of feedback from anyone who knows me. I like my anonymity. I hope that doesn't seem two faced.

kittylester Sun 12-Oct-14 18:44:07

My family know I'm on here Kate but I don't mention it to my friends eieither.

I lied when I said I was 5'5" and a size 20/22 on the leggings thread! I'm actually 6', slim, with no lines and luxuriant naturally blond hair - just in case you were wondering!

shysal Sun 12-Oct-14 18:57:44

We must be twins Kitty! I am very glamorous too (I wish).

Pittcity Sun 12-Oct-14 20:03:21

I've no qualms about posting my picture and it has been useful for being recognised at meetups!

Ana Sun 12-Oct-14 20:09:58

Well, of course you don't need to have any qualms because you actually are a gorgeous blonde, Pittcity! grin

Pittcity Sun 12-Oct-14 20:15:32

I was not a blonde until 6 years ago, I was a greying brunette with a short bob. I found a new hairdresser who persuaded me to go for a complete change that took years off.
Thankyou Ana, but DGS is the gorgeous blonde in the photo!

NanKate Sun 12-Oct-14 21:23:55

Kitty I think your profile photo shows that you have a very friendly face.

Pittcity you look like one of our younger members.

I would post a photo if I knew how to do it and more importantly find an acceptable photo. grin

Anya Sun 12-Oct-14 21:42:47

I'm Mrs Average. Average height, weight, colouring, etc.. I am undistinguishable from hundreds of other women my age. In fact I'm very boringly average.

Flowerofthewest Sun 12-Oct-14 22:18:51

5' 4" Blonde/highlighted (forever) shoulder length hair, double chin (eeek)
go up and down between size 18 and 22. Hate my belly. Blue eyes, not too bad looking for an old'un. Ageing Rock Chick.

Pittcity, in your profile you say you`ve been married to your "first husband" for over 30 years. Does that mean there`s going to be another one, lol?

numberplease Sun 12-Oct-14 23:07:13

My profile used to have a photo with me in it, but it seems to have replaced itself with a view of our back yard! Don`t know how!

kittylester Mon 13-Oct-14 06:45:45

Thankj you NanKate. Not sure looking friendly is as good as being a 6' willowy blonde but - heyho! grin

Pittcity Mon 13-Oct-14 08:26:05

numberplease it is a family joke. My Mum always introduces my Dad as her first husband because "you never know!"

Gagagran Mon 13-Oct-14 08:34:54

Terry Wogan always refers to the lovely Helen as "the present Lady Wogan" as though he had her replacement lined up! Makes me smile.

Teetime Mon 13-Oct-14 08:57:50

I'm often mistaken for Sophia Loren grin
