I need a new pair of jeans, I have always worn them , but hurtling towards 70years old I wonder if I can still wear jeans and then I can't decide on what style, I like the skinny look but I don't have skinny legs, I would love to look effortlessly chic in jeans ,What do other GN,s think?

I wear them. Mostly for walking the dog or gardening.

I'm older than you and still wearing jeans. What else is there? It depends on the fit which style to buy. Skinny legs are sometimes very tight, I tend to go for straight, narrow legged ones, worn with ankle boots they go through the winter, sandals or flat ballerinas in summer.

I wear jeans and jeggings with boots very often I have them in different colours and you can certainly wear them at any age. I'll be 69 this year and have no intention of stopping wearing them.

You sure can wear jeans at 70! Try the Pur Una straight leg jeans with bum lift, they give a very flattering fit. They look smarter than the denim jeans and are very comfortable because they have stretch throughout.

I have friends in their 80s who wear jeans.

Mary Berry looks great in jeans.

I'll be 70 in June and I fully intend to carry on wearing mine.

Trisher. , I find skinny jeans just too tight too, which jeans are you referring to , I find M&S straight leg just not narrow enough,

Lilypops Sat 28-Jan-17 22:46:41

Merlot gran , I agree , Mary Berry looks nice in jeans , I wonder which ones they are, wish I could ask her over a piece of her cake with a cuppa!

I m nearly 72 and have jeans in all colours they are my wardrobe mainstay, fairly slim so the skinny legs are fine if not jeans then its leggings or jeggins You carry on its what you enjoy wearing and feel right in that counts

I wear jeans nearly all the time. Dress them up or dress them down. Just come back from an Am Dram productions followed by a meal out and almost everybody was wearing jeans.

Lilypops Sat 28-Jan-17 22:55:57

Trishet, which jeans are these, I find that some straight leg jeans are not narrow enough , but I don't want too skinny ones, Yes Mary Berry does look good in jeans ,especially teamed with the lovely tops and jackets she wears,
I wonder where she buys hers, I would love to ask her over a cuppa and a piece of her cake,

Thankyou Gns I have decided on jeggings for now from M&S, interestingly , when I read the reviews, a lot where written in by 65and over, so jeans and jeggings it is for me, with tunic tops and boots , Thanks for your advice ladies ,

I swear by John Rocha jeans at Debenhams. I find them really comfortable, though I had to give all my long leg ones to my daughter as I just can't wear heels any more. Now I buy the short size ones, which is a bit depressing. (i used to be very proud of my legs, where did those days go?) I buy the slim fit boot cut ones.

Cherrytree59 Sat 28-Jan-17 23:34:27

I live in jeans
I prefer boot cut

I have ones to hold the tum in
Better than any girdle grin

Wouldn't we all love to have Mary Berry over for a cuppa> She could make Dacquoise. Her jeans look to be slim, not quite skinny. PurUna are nice in slim jeans.

I am 72 and wear jeans a lot. Skinny ones or jeggings now I have lost a good bit of weight. ?

Why not? I have worn jeans almost all my life – I can actually remember the thrill of going with the Madre to buy my very first pair when I was five. I'm certainly not going to stop wearing them now (not the ones we bought when I was five, obviously).

envy envy
Short fat legs and jeans don't mix

I wear boot leg jeans in dark denim. I can never find perusal in my size so I buy Sainsbury's and wash them often. Lands End are good for smarter jeans, I find.

Lilypops the good thing about reaching 70, which I did recently, is that you can do just what you want. It doesn't worry me any more what folks think, if I feel comfortable and happy in new clothes I have them. I bought a rather jazzy little blue and white striped jacket last year and feel a little continental when I wear it smile

The only rules for over 70s in my book are, No Beige and no Crimplene.

f77ms Sun 29-Jan-17 08:02:12

I don`t look good in jeans but would love to be able to wear them . I haven`t found any which look OK for about 20 years , I think it depends on your body shape and mine just isn`t jean friendly .

f77ms Sun 29-Jan-17 08:03:41

ninathenana think that is my problem too grin

Lillie Sun 29-Jan-17 08:10:33

I think jeans can look smart at any age, but I prefer the darker shades the older I become. I have two fraying old dog walking pairs and one best pair. All M & S.

Greyduster Sun 29-Jan-17 08:32:52

I have just hurtled past 70 and I wear narrow leg M&S jeans with ankle boots most of the time. I like the thought of skinny jeans but I tried a pair and they don't suit me.
