I look in the mirror and think I'm gorgeous

It's other people that tell me I've got a face like a smacked arse.
So said Kathy Burke in an Observer interview.
She has also described herself as a lifelong member of the non-pretty working classes.
How would GNetters describe themselves I wonder?

I always look grumpier than I feel due to the operation of gravity on my face over the years. I practice smiling, the poor woman's facelift!

I think I look reasonable for my age, all right in the mirror but when I take a selfie with my phone I transform into something else, more jowly and frownie.
I'm not too vain but I don't want to look like a bulldog.

Never pretty at the best of times but on a really bad day I go out wearing my sunglasses... then nobody knows it's me!!!

Short sight certainly has its advantages. I have to look in the mirror to do my hair but at least I can't see all the wrinkles and saggy bits and the remaining brown seems to spread to cover up the grey.

Someone who is going to give the ageing process a run for its money! Bring on the face creams and body butter! Exercise and diet? Of course I shall. Tomorrow!

I don't think I'm turning into my mother. No, I think I'm turning into my dad!

This morning I was lying down on my side and reading my Kindle app on my phone. Somehow I must have hit the camera button on selfie mode. Aggghh.... was that really me...first thing in the morning. Specs were sitting crooked, hair all over the place .. definitely not pretty.
Somehow dh seems to deal with it.

I wish starlily ! my dad and I look about the same age. When I take him out ( often) I'm sure everyone thinks we're a couple! He is a very good for his age, 80 and I'm an ugly old hag 55 .

I look in the mirror and like what I see today: that is cos I know who I am. Long story however a traumatic life (that Hollywood would love the rights too, however aren't getting, cos it's my copyright) led to years of various therapies in my 40's. I know who I am when I look in the mirror now. That is worth more than gold.

Probably sounds odd to those whose life has been ''normal'' However having been bought up in secrets, lies, violence and much more, I never knew me, until I found me.

Basically I got my head together and now my body is falling apart

Keffie, irrespective of body state, I'm so glad you found you at last. Such a sad glad story. Thank you for sharing.

Over-dyed red hair, caked-on make up, still 1980's style as that's what I know how to do, crow's feet, and and baggy eyes. I have grown more comfortable with my ageing self as I've grown older, and I'm happy with the way I am, I've left all the anxiety behind of when I was young and I am now content with just being me. When my GS asks to borrow my make-up bag, I feel flattered!

Piggypoo, love your post and your look ( as I imagine it ) Like you I'm still happy in a time warp , home cut Farrah Fawcet hair , Molly Parkin eyes and Mama Cass figure !
I'm a history lesson .

I don't think I look much worse than I did when I was 15.
I thought I looked bloody awful then, and I still do!

I loved your description of yourself tow but was disappointed when I clicked on your 'blue' GN name hoping to see a photo and you hadn't put one on there. (Mind you neither have I!)
