What a lot of miserable old buggers some of you are!

I’ll post then run for the hills 🤓🙄🙃

Just reading through threads this morning and left asking ‘is it me?’

An example, someone comes up with an idea they are really keen on and at least half the posters rain on their parade. Or someone is asking for advice and off some of us go just talking about ourselves and ignoring the OP’s request. Reminds me of those ‘friends’ (ex-friends) who monopolise the conversation.

Then there’s those who seem to think you and on the downward side of the hill after you hit 70 and are getting rid of ‘stuff’ from their lives, presumably in expectation of shuffling off this mortal coil in the not too distance future. Now I’m not a hoarder by any means and anything that wasn’t beautiful, useful or had sentimental value was ditched along the way even when I was young. So what is their point now?

Then there’s the old sparring partners who’ve been getting digs (and sometimes ‘slings and arrows’) at a particular poster who they fell out with in 1066 and seem to live for the chance to twist the knife.

And of course, extremely irritating, those who don’t read the thread and other posts and say exactly what I’ve just said as if they had just had the most amazing idea. And even more irritating those who comment on that post ‘that’s a great idea why didn’t someone else think if thst?’ (they did - me 😳) making it a double whammy. Grrrr...

Then, there those with a listening ear, a bit of common sense and, above all, logic ....thank god.

Anya yep! grin spot on.

kittylester Wed 08-Nov-17 11:08:07

Ooohhh heck!! Was it me? I hope I'm one of the latter ones.

Now I've made it all about me - think I'll stop digging.

BBbevan Wed 08-Nov-17 11:15:15

I agree. But I do recognise that I often do not read all the posts on a thread. Sometimes things are so silly, boring, righteous or plain miserable and critical, that I can't be bothered to post. I stick to games or threads with kind , likeminded people like the LCHF one .

nanaK54 Wed 08-Nov-17 11:24:06

I am neither old or a bugger! grin grin grin

nanaK54 Wed 08-Nov-17 11:24:51

.......oh and definitely not miserable!

ffinnochio Wed 08-Nov-17 11:32:35

You ok, hon? 🙃

Alima Wed 08-Nov-17 11:43:01

I was just thinking that Anya must be feeling better ffinochio, one of us must be right. I cannot see much difference on Gnet at the moment, there have always been some miserable old sods, some black-caters, helpful people etc, so why is today any different? (I look upon the Swedish death clean as a way of getting rid of crap, nothing too morbid!)

Anniebach Wed 08-Nov-17 11:47:39

Guilty of some sins 😟

gillybob Wed 08-Nov-17 11:48:36

"Miserable bugger" I will give you Anya but less of the old, eh? wink

Greyduster Wed 08-Nov-17 12:00:36

Not just me feeling jaundiced this morning, then! 🙄

BBbevan Wed 08-Nov-17 12:02:58

Anniebach I am sure Anya does not mean those that like yourself have genuine reasons to be sad and miserable. It is those that carp and whitter she dislikes

MawBroon Wed 08-Nov-17 12:30:59

some of you , not some of US Anya?
Are you distancing yourself from “us” ( miserable old buggers) then?

Anniebach Wed 08-Nov-17 12:35:15

BB, you have forgotten I am a miserable old bugger on discussions of a certain political party ? grin

gillybob Wed 08-Nov-17 12:47:17

Oh Annie just had a thought..... why don't you start a political thread and let rip.... while everyone is still being nice to you. wink

(I know Annie won't take offence at that... just before I am told off by someone)

sunseeker Wed 08-Nov-17 12:53:57

Have to admit sometimes not reading a whole thread - usually when two posters are having a go at each other - I usually skip past their posts onto the rest of the thread.

Tegan2 Wed 08-Nov-17 12:59:26

I'm actually having a major problem with the clutter in my life [I really am getting close to being one of those people that appear in tv programmes about such stuff, because I literally can't throw things away and never have been able to]. So the Swedish death clean [or whatever it's called] is really helpful for me sad.

Jalima1108 Wed 08-Nov-17 13:01:02

Oh dear, was it me?

I only said I wouldn't thank anyone for some extended CDs of Elvis or the Beatles these days .....
But I did come up with a suggestion!

Take your pick grin

Crafting Wed 08-Nov-17 13:12:18

Can't be talking about me I'm too boring and uninteresting to encite any of those criticisms. Anyone got any cake grin

NanaandGrampy Wed 08-Nov-17 13:30:43

Ah so everything’s normal then ? 😀

Fennel Wed 08-Nov-17 13:43:55

"Or someone is asking for advice and off some of us go just talking about ourselves and ignoring the OP’s request."
I admit I'm often guilty of that one.
But Gransnet is the only forum I belong to where it seems to be OK to have a good moan.

vampirequeen Wed 08-Nov-17 13:48:03

I can't be old and miserable can I? I still swing from the chandeliers!

My dad used to call me a 'bugger up the back' when I was little because I was clumsy so maybe I should hold my hands up to that grin

I think Gransnet is what you get when you mix a group of articulate ladies and gents who have lived varied lives. Each brings their own views when they join a thread. Some dip in and out whilst others read every's a personality thing. I don't think anyone is deliberately mean. We may not always agree with each other and sometimes it's fun to have a bit of a debate. But when the chips are down and the OP is from someone who needs total, unconditional support then that is what is given.

gillybob Wed 08-Nov-17 13:50:59

My late mum swore blind that she never swore confused

She didn't think "bugger" was a swear word. I think its one of the worst (I never say it), but that just my opinion.

BlueBelle Wed 08-Nov-17 13:54:15

Oh well I definitely come into Anya s gripe as I am trying to clear out clutter in my life, not because I think I m going to be kicking up the daisies anytime soon but because it will take me at least a decade to become a minimalistic
Don’t think I m a miserable old git though

gillybob Wed 08-Nov-17 13:58:50

One womans idea of clutter is another womans idea of treasure.
