How is it 90% of people have been suckered into wearing tight blue cotton leg coverings... Jeans, jeggings - whatever you call 'em - cold and unflattering on everybody. I really do not want to see the absolute outline of anyone in public. I wear windproof craghoppers most of the time when others would choose jeans. And leggings are next thing to underwear - OK at home with close family or in a gym. As for the leg coverings with deliberate rips - don't get me started.

I love my skinny jeans and jeggings and have them in an array of colours - and I also wear leggings with a long top/short dress and knee boots. I am 72 and would not dream of wearing baggy (old dear) trousers, so unflattering.....

I wear Craghoppers for walking as they are practical and quick drying, but wouldn't wear them any other time, too frumpy. I wear slim jeans, jeggings and leggings other times, I think they are very flattering if you're slim and have decent legs. I'm not a slave to fashion, but I like to look modern

I wear jeggings or skinny trousers. I am tall and slim ( now) so really enjoy wearing things I could not before I lost weight.
What are craghoppers, they sound froggy?

kazlau Sun 12-Nov-17 19:07:44

I love cold shoulder tops. I’m menopausal so they help me to wear a warmish jumper and still be able not to overheat. grin

I'm all for skinny jeans, jeggings etc. but what I can't stand is the close fitting type of covering (usually grey or white) worn with no knickers or a thong. Walking behind a jelly bottom (whatever the age or size) is not a good experience.

I am still thankful that jeans are now cut so they fit around the waist. I don't wear them myself, but I hated seeing people wearing them flashing their thongs as they walked along, and showing most of their bums when bending over, not to mention the rolls of fat hanging over at the top.

Well ladies, if I could I'd write this in green ink I would! I'm quite slim but I have "sturdy" legs. I would love to wear slim fitting jeans/jeggings/leggings, especially with boots or flat shoes, but I just don't have the courage. Good luck to you all!

gmelon Sun 12-Nov-17 20:19:33

All those who wear skinny jeans-please advise me.
How the hell do you get them on???!! Obviously I'm missing a trick here because although I'm a size 8 I have never, never managed to get the bloody things up my legs. Yesterday saw me having yet another failed attempt. I can see that they will fit me on my waist and bottom but the legs ??? I do not have great giant legs on top of a small arse. Help!!!

gmelon Sun 12-Nov-17 20:20:53

Yes I've realised my legs are under my bottom not on top.

Marydoll Sun 12-Nov-17 20:24:29

I wear jeggings, but always have to chop the legs as I am vertically challenged!

W11girl Sun 12-Nov-17 21:25:43

I agree with MOnica, I don't look right in shapeless craghoppers, so not for me. I wear jeggins/leggins in all sorts of colours with long johns underneath in the winter...sooooooooooo comfortable. I also like to wear cheerful bright jumpers and shirts on the top, as I hate dull green, grey, black and brown look of winter.

Smithy Sun 12-Nov-17 22:59:00

I can't understand why any of you have even mentioned ripped jeans. They certainly aren't meant for anyone over about 30. And the number of fat women I've seen wearing cold shoulder tops - ugh.
Also think leggings look better on young SLIM people. But then a lot of people don't care as long as they're comfortable. Each to his own.

Jalima1108 Sun 12-Nov-17 23:01:00

Craghoppers are clothes for wearing when you are striding up mountains or running the fells.

MissAdventure Sun 12-Nov-17 23:02:05

The most I do is nip round the shop..

Jalima1108 Sun 12-Nov-17 23:05:07

gardening? Don't they have handy pockets?

Well, they look like the kind of thing I might wear if I was going on a long plane journey too - useful pockets.

8 pockets! You could pack a weeks worth of stuff into them and save on hold luggage!

I wear Craghoppers for hiking, otherwise I wear bootleg jeans or trousers. I feel that at my age leggings are not appropriate but I wouldn't dream of complaining about what other women wear. My pet fashion hate is big girls wearing cut off tops and shorts in the summer.

M0nica Mon 13-Nov-17 21:19:39

Re-reading the OP, I found myself getting a bit cross because she assumes anyone who doesn't share her likes/dislikes is a fashion victim. And, I would add, there are many women and girls, with long slim legs who display to advantage in slim fitting leggings and trousers.

paddyann Mon 13-Nov-17 22:05:45

leggings ,long tops and knee high boots is my winter uniform ,I hate baggy clothes they just make me look heavier than I am

Caro1954 Mon 13-Nov-17 22:26:46

OP seems to have disappeared MOnica! grin

M0nica Tue 14-Nov-17 06:56:41

Yes, I had noticed that. With not a single post supporting her, she probably feels a bit intimidated, which is a problem if you start a thread that no one agrees with.

But none of us has been nasty about it so I hope this will not stop her posting on other subjects elsewhere.

Marydoll Tue 14-Nov-17 08:24:12

I have to say that the first few words got my hackles up. How is it 90% of people have been suckered into wearing, but then I wondered if it was just a clever way of getting people to respond to the post. I'm definitely not a sucker.
I have always hated baggy clothes, as they make me look even smaller and heavier than I am. As for long, elastic waist skirts........
I remember 40+ years ago, when I was a student and working in a bar, I bent down to lift a crate of beer and my very tight jeans ripped horizontally across the backside. I had to tie a dishtowel around my waist until my mother brought a replacement pair. I was beetroot with embarrassment. Perhaps I should have been wearing Craghoppers.

watermeadow Tue 14-Nov-17 20:05:02

Is this only about trousers or can I moan about necklines? For years now every top and jumper has had a great wide neck. The craze for wearing scarves all the time has passed and most older women need their necks covered.
I want round necked tops and can’t get them.
