I was going to the party in my night attire- nobody would have noticed but my hair was not dry and sticking a toe outside the front door I decided that as it was -2C and I have had the lurgy, I would stay at home because as I said earlier I would not like to add food poisoning to my health problems. Also my eye sight is not brilliant so I may well have ended up with a mixture of loo cleaner and vinegar for a welcome drink. I think as I am not 100% I would not be life and soul of the party and pole dancing would be beyond me when I would prefer my own bed.

I have had a cold and cough so you would miss hearing my dulcet tones. The polis would not be visiting to wonder what the awful catterwhailing (sp) was.

Marydoll Fri 23-Feb-18 22:51:52

Oh dear, how disappointing for you, to have missed a fabulous party. We do "takeaways".Poteen, fly cemetery cake ( from the fly paper), etc. Just give us the job.

Marydoll Fri 23-Feb-18 23:10:21

I just wanted to say thank you to all who visited the Argy, it was lovely evening and really cheered me up. You were all such good sports.flowers

lemongrove Fri 23-Feb-18 23:11:34

The polis? Another Scot is it? Well, you missed a fabulous party Charley the kitcheners were as ——- as newts, in fact we were shocked! The strippers were a bit of alright too.
Anyway, get well soon, we will send over what’s left of the poteen.
Thanks to all who were able to attend and hope you don’t have too bad a hangover.
Maw you may be small but I was impressed by how strong you are...... you lifted that table and hurled it at the bar shouting ‘Gie us more brandy now or I’ll boil yer heid yer great lummock’ ( to Chewy) which was also brave of you as she is a big woman, and I wouldn't want to cross her!

NannyJan53 Sat 24-Feb-18 09:08:21

JaneD3, yes Baggeridge was lovely yesterday, bright blue skies, with snowdrops peeking their heads out! Was there a couple of days earlier with granddaughters, they love it there.

Looks like I missed a banging party last night! I had quiet night in with other half and a homemade curry!

Off now to tidy the debris!

Chewbacca Sat 24-Feb-18 09:36:50

Morning laydees! I've just been cleaning up in the Argy and found some lost property that might belong to your clientele?
1 pack of Tena Lady
1 cashmere cardigan with an odd stain on it, a ripped sleeve and a pungent smell
1 white stiletto shoe with a broken heel, size 8
1 leopard print suspended belt found dangling off a light bulb over the stage
1 diamante G string found at the back of the stage hmm
3 empty bottles of Captain Morgan rum disguised as perfume bottles

We really enjoyed your company last night, hope you'll join us again soon when lemongrass is hoping to do a karaoke.
Crafting could you let go of that Chippendale dancer today? The nursing home are looking for him.

wineflowers

soop Sat 24-Feb-18 12:36:27

Marydoll and Chewbacca I knew beyond a shadow of doubt that us lot would have a wild time with you lot. I was happy for them to have a right royal fling. That cashmere cardi' was one that I lent to one of the party goers. Can't think who it was. Does it pong of moth balls? Never mind, it was far too small for me. My bust appears to have expanded lately, together with my belly and rear quarters. I'm growing old disgracefully.

At this moment I'm watching the curling and cheering for Eve Muirhead and her team. I shall return after the event to spend time with my Granspals. It appears that there is a whole lot of catching up to do - again wink

NanaandGrampy Sat 24-Feb-18 13:35:12

Afternoon all !

We nipped out first thing to stock up in case the weather actually turns bad so just catching up !!

Your dinner out with family sounds lovely *Nonna - hope it ( and the cupcakes) were enjoyed by all.

I LOVE the cake Bella what a clever DD.

So sorry to hear of Berties trip in ana ambulance Kitty. Poor little chap. It reminded me of a phone call from Laura at the age of 3 -it went like this...

Laura: Nana nana nana!!!!!
Me: Hello Laura . What are you doing?
Laura: I'm in a ne naw ne naw ne naw !
Me: You're in an ambulance?
Laura: Yes - we're having a baby!!

My eldest daughter had taken it upon herself to go to a local shopping mall by bus no less on her due date when her waters broke on the bus . Everything came to a stop, passengers were turfed off and an ambulance came to take her and 3 yr old Laura to hospital. I have to say it wasn't what I expected when i picked up the phone !!

hmmm at least a couple of those lost items belong to me Chewbacca !! By the way - just thought id mention a couple of those Chippendales looked more like Chipmunks...of course taking off my glasses helped a great deal.

I'm looking forward to the next event - now I'm off soak my lady parts in radox...getting that upside down Tena pad off nearly finished me off !!!!

and on that note..... happy Saturday all !!

soop Sat 24-Feb-18 14:15:59

Hello my lovelies. The sun is shining. The sea is calm. There is a bitter nip in the air.
Sadly Eve and her curling team lost their match against Japan. Now I'm looking forward to the Scotland v England rugby match a little later this afternoon.

N&G Laura's ne naw phone call is a winner. Perhaps we should consider compiling a list of the humorous sayings of our grandchildren and include them in a book. The title could be 'Out of the mouths of...'

NannyJan53 If my husband (*MacSporran*) had known that you had curry on the menu he'd have paid you friendly visit. He happens to have a passion for curries. I find that they give me horrendous wind.
Baggeridge sounds like the ideal spot for a Baggs to visit.

Charleygirl You were wise to remain in the safe confines of your own cosy home. I do hope that you'll soon feel a good deal better. By the way, the polis had had a tip off regarding the shenanigans over in the caff. There was mention of a rumpus and arrests on this mornings news. Who would have grassed that lot up? It's a mystery that shall remain unsolved. wink

Nonna I'm delighted that the birthday meal was enjoyed by all. Did you travel by taxi? If so, you'll have enjoyed wine with your treat.

soop Sat 24-Feb-18 14:36:00

callgirl1 I almost blew a gasket when I saw the cost of *Mia's treatment. That's an awfully high bill for the removal of two teeth. I'm afraid that we wouldn't be able to afford another pet. Feeding a cat and his family was okay, but, when we needed help with their failing health issues, we found it tough going. Having said that, Rory and Amber, gave us a huge amount of fun. There is little that an owner wouldn't do for the health and happiness of a family pet. We miss that wee family so much.

Jalima1108 I like the sound of your colour scheme in the downstairs loo. Neutrals with a splash of colour sounds perfect.

harrigran Although your neighbour's son is out of hospital, I cannot imagine how stressed his mother must be. Life can be so unfair. I trust that your own health is better than it was. flowers

Corner Do you think that you've picked up a nasty bug? There is one doing the rounds. I hope that you'll feel well enough to celebrate the birthdays.

soop Sat 24-Feb-18 14:42:44

Maw You have good taste. Andrex Supersoft with cashmere is for posh folk. Whatever will the manufacturers think of next. When I was a wee child, we had an outside cluggy (? spelling) home to enormous spiders and cut up squares of newspaper threaded through with string. Classy!

Charleygirl Sat 24-Feb-18 14:51:25

I was fortunate as a child and always had an indoor loo. When we moved to our first house I was washed at the kitchen sink with heaps of water being boiled on the gas cooker in saucepans. We had a bathroom but could not afford the electricity to heat the water for it.

Visiting my grandfather on the farm in Ireland was different. The loo was a shed in the garden and it was not close enough to the house for my liking. Luckily in those days I never needed the loo during the night- a different story now.

soop I am fine but I feel very tired and if I sit down with a cup of coffee I will be asleep within minutes.

Greyduster Sat 24-Feb-18 15:09:56

Us too, Soop! And if the paraffin lamp went out in the winter, the cistern would freeze! Bad news!! My father told me he grew up with an earth closet. Doesn’t bear thinking about! We went to the National Mining Museum with GS and they had a mock up of a miners terrace with an outside loo and a bath hanging on the wall. He thought it was some kind of joke!
N&G I think the ride in a ‘nee na nee na’ must have been thrilling for a three year old but a bit less so for mummy! Hope you got your stocks in. We are only a short walk from a supermarket so can struggle through the snow if necessary. And they bake their own bread!
All this talk of the bad weather we are expecting is worrying, but I have just been out in my garden pottering about for a couple of hours (I had not intended to, but those “oh I’ll just pull that out while I’m here” moments often lead to the most work getting done) and it was positively balmy. It’s quite sheltered at the back. The sun is on the conservatory and it is seventy degrees in there with no heating on. Just as well, as I am now hunkered down in here to escape from the vituperative language ensuing from the living room where DH is watching the rugby. I think Wales must losing ☹️. Better go and make him a coffee.
I’ll look in later.

soop Sat 24-Feb-18 15:26:21

Charleygirl We had a tin bath and only one dunking each week. When we moved into our first "posh" house it had a bathroom with a water heater. Still only used the bath on Sundays.
Put your feet up. I shall drape a Scottish tartan blanket across your knees and make you a warming brew. Sadly no cake. I'm trying to diet for the umpteenth time this year.

Greyduster We were hardy stock in those days. I recall visiting an elderly aunt whose house was lit by gas lamps. Sometimes the flame would gutter and blow out when the door opened and let in a draft. The house was small and gloomy and on entering the front parlour the visitor was greeted with a strong pong of gas. Auntie Flo lived well into her nineties. Not bad, all things being considered.
I'm preparing to watch the Scotland v England rugby match. Come on Scotland do your best!

NannyJan53 Sat 24-Feb-18 15:56:12

Soop We have a curry most Friday's unless we are going out. Macsporran is welcome anytime, always too much for the 2 of us.

Out of the Mouths of Babes, reminds me of something my 6 year old GD said. She asked her Mum to name the five senses, which she did ie. Sight, hearing, touch, taste and smell..."what about sense of humour"? says GD smile

Other half will want the TV on soon to watch the Rugby, so I will depart to dining room!

soop Sat 24-Feb-18 16:34:48

NannyJan53 A sense of humour is exactly what your granddaughter has. Very well said. grin

NanaandGrampy Sat 24-Feb-18 16:38:04

Its curry night here tonight also.

Grampy has been out on the campaign trail ! Having seen the plans for the village at the roadshow you now have to go online , navigate several screens to get to the bit where you can write ' NO' ( thank you !!). As many of our neighbours are very elderly Ive written their No thank yous for them , all they have to do is sign and we'll pop them in the post. Pushy? Moi? :-)

We had an indoor bathroom growing up but there were 4 of us. As the eldest and luckiest some might say , I got both the hot and clean water, but each subsequent child got in the same water. My brother always says it was like a well done stew when he got in last!!!!

I'm avoiding the rugby.... and long may that last too !!

kittylester Sat 24-Feb-18 16:50:15

WE have Andrex Aloe Vera - DH prefers it for his botty!!

DH is in a bit of a state having just cleared out his wardrobe!! shock When I suggested he also do his chest of drawers he came over all faint!! Hey ho.

I'm not sure that my delicate nether regions could have coped at the Argy Bargy last night but I was sorry to miss the Chippendales - who sounded old enough to be genuine!

On the subject of strange phone calls - a friend answered the phone to her daughter who was visiting my friends mother and shrieking hysterically.

Daughter; Mum, the car just hit and sped off.
Friend: well where is she now?
Daughter: in the middles of the road bleeding!
Friend: I'll be right there.

She arrived at her Mum's house to discover the pet rabbit, dead, in the middle of the road.

Actually, the reason I am here is to ask the grans to arm themselves with legs of lamb and pay a visit to the a"""h""e who has not even enquired how the Bertie Boy is but did comment, 'You always did panic, I bet there was nothing wrong with him really, fancy calling an ambulance'. The ambulance had in fact be called by the doctor at the walkin centre.

Please be brutal!!

kittylester Sat 24-Feb-18 16:51:45

I meant to say that Persie told Bertie off for not staying at the hospital 'because then I was going to go to Ma and Pa's house ON MY OWN!'

Greyduster Sat 24-Feb-18 17:09:33

Kitty with pleasure. Pass the weapon along! I’m speechless. Poor Persie; done out of her “me” time, bless her! I’m sure she’ll forgive Bertie anyway! ?.

soop Sat 24-Feb-18 17:45:50

kitty count me in! Talk about seeing red. That man is a moron.

OHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH! The Scots are well ahead of the English. I'm beside myself with hope that they can maintain their well deserved lead. Anything can happen. I've become all overwhelmed in the past and things didn't exactly go our way by the time the final whistle blew. Anyways, I'm cock-a-hoop right now. I may need a nice glass of red before too long.

I'm wishing you all a pleasant and peaceful evening. Thank you for your company and for making me smile. Stay safe and keep warm. smile moon

Charleygirl Sat 24-Feb-18 18:24:10

I am not into rugby at all but I was delighted to note that Scotland had a decent lead- long may it continue.

It must have been cold here this evening because Tara wandered home long before 5pm. She is upstairs, probably on my clean bedding, resting her eyes.

I also am having a curry this evening. Although I live in London the Indian takeaways around my area are dreadful so I end up making my own.

NanaandGrampy Sat 24-Feb-18 18:42:43

Kitty I stand ready with Sunday’s leg of lamb to give the a*seh*le a good seeing to!!! What a twonk !!

I did chuckle at Persia’s comment . They do need alone visits don’t they ?

annodomini Sat 24-Feb-18 18:52:37

It's a good day to be Scottish! My late father would be bursting with patriotic joy? As am I.

annodomini Sat 24-Feb-18 18:53:13

No question mark needed in that post!
