Hot weather? how much longer?

4 or maybe 5 weeks so far mapleleaf? Not where I am! The hot weather started around middle to late May and has hardly let up since. So about 8 weeks so far! And long may it continue ?☀️⛱?

Auntieflo, that would be perfect, and it’d be lovely to see our proper green grass again. I love the warm, sunny days and knowing what you need and don’t need for the day, instead of having to set off with a bag full of “just in case” things - umbrella, cardigan, sun cream and glasses.

We have rain forecast here later this week with slightly lower temps afterwards. Suits me. Wouldn't want to go back to cold wet and dull just yet though. We were sitting in the garden with friends till 11.30 last night and it was lovely. But I try to avoid being in the sun during the day.

On the Thanet side of East Kent - it has been: - not hot, but very pleasant, nights cool enough, brisk breeze, and no rain since early May! the garden is dessiccated, we save the water from running for the hot tap/shower and make very sure we use the minimum water...
I would enjoy a rain shower/storm for a bit; it might damp down the dust and pollen.
Poor, poor farmers, with no water for their stock, none to grow their veges - and they have already been putting out the winter caulis/cabbages/sprouts [we are the brassica capital of the UK!], so they aren't doing that well either!

We've had rain overnight in Ireland. I'm soooo glad to see it. The air feels fresher and the plants must be grateful for a little moisture. I think the rain is on it's way to England now. Enjoy!

I’m in Ireland, too, Inishowen, on the west coast for the weekend, and it has rained non stop for 24 hrs now....we need loads of it but still it’s disappointing weather when you’re on holidays! Ah, well!

In an ideal world, rain overnight for a few nights, I am more than happy with this weather. The winter will be here soon enough, I intend to make the most of the sunshine.

Throughout the six weeks school holidays otherwise I will be very disappointed I break up Friday

Love this hot weather and dreading the dark and cold we have in the winter. I’m really hoping it lasts for sons wedding on 28 July but have a feeling it will break when the children break up from school.

I guess I'm in the minority as I like warmth but not this 'searing' heat. That's why my holidays are always taken out of season when visiting countries known for their sunny climate.
At the mo I'm brunching on melon, blueberries and M&S strawberries with Greek yogurt and that will see me into late afternoon.
Beds changed, washing on and inside windows cleaned as outside done yesterday. All before 9am and the heat of the day.
As another poster said, rain overnight would be great to keep dust and fumes down and water the gardens and fields.
I can and have got sunburned lying on my bed if I forget to lower the blinds when having an afternoon nap. Crazy sun.
I'm lucky in that Thames Water deliver 12 x 1.5 ltr bottles of Brecon water to me if the flow is low. That's service.
I saw a tip on YouTube about keeping cool. Freeze a (plastic) bottle of water then stand it in front of a fan. It will REALLY cool you down.

Bring it on. My fuel and water bills have never been so low. I don't need a hot bath just a luke warm shower. No sweaters to wash .Every thing I am wearing is cotton.No need to use my tumble dryer unlike some British summers which have been wet and miserable.Eating more salads.Casseroles are for cold days, breakfasts are porridge free. I will save that for the winter when we will all be moaning how cold and wet it is. Yes my lawns are dried up, tough, but six months ago they were under water.

I agree SHW, low bills are a plus. I gave my monthly water meter reading at the end of June and I'd only used 2 cubic metres. The standing charges are much higher than the water used.

In my garden in the arid south even the bindweed is dying back?

I love it, and not having to mow the lawn saves me 3 hours a week.

Here in east Essex we have not had rain for 52 days! I'm fed up with watering my plants.( saving every drop from bath/shower/kitchen). Some plants have special memories and I don't want to lose them. A nice evening shower of rain would be lovely to freshen up everything.

I love getting the washing dry so quickly, but I don't have time to sit and roast my skin in the garden, and housework in this heat finishes me off for the rest of the day. Not to mention my poor little pooch who suffers in this heat.

The hot sunny weather will stop when most schools break up, so that’s by Friday 20th or the week after.
If your schools have already finished and it’s still hot, lucky you.

School hols start soon, weather is bound to change then it always does.

I think your probably spot on trisher . Maybe English schools should start breaking up at the same time as those in Scotland although you probably can’t win .

I can cope with the hot weather ( up to about 25 degrees) if there is a nice breeze but the recent weather has been, in London, quite overpowering and I find it drains my energy. It's different on holiday when sleeping and eating in an air conditioned hotel, a pool there if needed and not having to travel about on public transport, shop, cook, do housework, etc !

Very little breeze here on the NE coast either today which is unusua, as we tend to get the wind directly off the sea . It’s like a mill pond today though SeaWatcher

Loving this weather, Labrador rescue pup outside mostly, damage limitation though she is into creative gardening, no plant is safe! Coco is 7 months and she has only been with us a week and my life has changed infinitely for the better, never thought we could have another after Henry passed in February.
