I love this weather, the joy of being out in the garden from dawn till dusk, of eating outside, wearing light clothing, meeting neighbours usually cowering inside from inclement weather, swimming outside without shivering. What's not to like?!
Beau .Hope DGS is well protected from the sun. Having spent yesterday on my local beach I was concerned on seeing so many uncovered little bodies playing in the sand.
Quite right a precious commodity use it sparingly farmers work all year round need changeable weather for crops and animals. several of our rivers have dried up completely some reservoirs are right down it doesn't take much dry weather to cause a problem .many country have Little or no clean water so lets not forget them. count your blessings as they say
I'm one of the ones who want this to go on all summer, but I wouldn't object madly to a couple of good thunder showers, as long as it turns hot again afterwards.
Thunderstorms may clear the air but the heavy rain just runs off causing flooding. What we need is soft gentle rain for several hours, preferably overnight.
It's hot here in Devon, we had heavy rain the other week, road was like a river then the sun came out & you couldn't tell we'd had any rain at all. I love the sun but it's too hot & airless for me. Stay sunny but a bit cooler would suit me
Here I am sitting in my little city garden listening to the birds, traffic, police sirens etc, sipping white wine and about to watch the World Cup final. Early morning I did a two hour riverwalk and coffee with a friend
I am having to put up with hard looks from Hattie who would like a walk (made that mistake yesterday) and having to keep her in the house as she insists on lying in full sun and then starts hyperventilating and panting.
Our neighbour has got workmen to build a wall and has been cutting bricks etc all day, driving me crazy, I cant open the doors or windows with all the dust flying around, not to mention the noise. I would accept it during the week as thats when people usually work but a hot Sunday, from 7.30 til now...... aargh!!
After owning a detached house in Bedfordshire and a villa with business in Spain, we lost everything and had to resort to renting a flat in London near OH's job. The landlady lives downstairs, cutting off any chance of running a business from home and there's no garden. There's a tiny space next to the bins but the area never gets sunshine, so the flat has damp mould. To get some sun I had to resort to sitting on a cemetery bench twice this week so do please enjoy your gardens and no matter how uncomfortable for me, long may the heatwave continue. I used to live in Kuwait.
Would like it to drop down a notch and rain of a night. Please think of the mums and dads going on holiday, and the kids, weather always changes when the summer holidays start.
I’m amazed at how many of you like heat and drought. Aren't you all wrinkling like prunes in the sun? It’s very bad for your skin. I’ve wasted hours every day indoors with the curtains drawn. Children and pets shouldn’t be out in hot sun so I walk my pup at 6 am, when it’s cool and peaceful.
We have a slight breeze today coming in off The Mersey which is quite refreshing, two nights of rain falling for a few hours. I remember when we went back to school after 6 weeks holidays in our winter uniforms the weather always changed to an Indian summer for quite a few weeks.
Oh Watermelon, why waste time indoors. Get out , find shady spots and enjoy ! Walking the dogs is wonderful . early morning or late evening when it is quiet and cool, Make the most of it while you can. We could put bets on it that it won’t last for
I'm with Nipsmum. It's rare in NE Scotland for the air to be warm, which it has been yesterday and today. Even when the sun is hot, there is usually a cool breeze. I'm loving it, even though I have to water my plants.
The last rain we had here, in East Anglia, was during our grand-children's half-term at the end of May, their end of term is next week, so I guess that's when the heatwave/dry spell will end, ready for the 6 week holidays...!!!
Sorry, but the extreme heat doesn't suit me, so I will welcome it being a little cooler, & light refreshing rain, (overnight) .
