Thanks to you lovely lot...we are almost a quarter of the way towards needing a new kitchen.

In I casually stroll thinking - just a quick update - and I need to take a seat, enjoy an entire pot of coffee and get on with the reality of it all. You lot are totally unstoppable/amazing/the best thing ever. Enough of all that...where to begin.

I feel that Mr Panache deserves a group hug. He is a marvellous man. Panache is in the very best of arms and there is nowhere more comforting than one's own home and bed. We all send the best of get well messages.

MacSporran has gone into town to do a million and one jobs. Car needs attention. I need extra hearing aid batteries from the hospital. Friend in care home looking forward to a visit. Stuff to take to the tip. Tesco shop to do. Parcel needs posting. After which, he will enjoy coffee and a cake in our favourite Friday visit to the Harbourview Grill and some special attention from our dear pal who makes us laugh a lot. He won't be home until mid afternoon. Dare I say...I miss him. Well, it's a fact. I do.

He took the car into the garage recently and left it on the road outside. The mechanic takes it into the work shop when he's ready to work on it. As he was passing later, the mechanic called out to him and said, we turned the ignition key and found that the battery was totally flat! We pushed the car into the workshop. Also, you need two rear tyres. Good news in that the battery behaved until he had reached the garage. Bad news in that he now needs more doing to the car than he anticipated. Ho hum!

I am slowly becoming accustomed to the wonders of Kindle Fire. May I eat my words, or whatever one does on sudden awareness of the cleverness of technology. The tablet is sitting beside me. I shall log into a programme that answers a few questions that continue to baffle me.

After a while, I shall return.

I’m so sorry to hear about your minister, soop. More sadness for you and your community. Good news that you and the Kindle have come to an understanding. Please keep resting, these bugs take some recovering from.

My bugs have de-camped to my sinuses making it hard to concentrate. Still, energy is returning so I can chase them away.

Oh dear chaos, I’m sure I didn’t sneeze. Honestly! Look after yourself. How lovely of your neighbours to do exactly what you would appreciate. People are very kind.

Time for more drugs here so I’m off. Be careful out there everyone, it blowing really hard here now, I’m watching a large tree behind our fence in hope and trying not to listen to the conservatory creaking. I so dislike wind - of any kind .

I know about macular degeneration because one of my friends has it. Affects reading ability etc. So frustrating .

MacSporran has returned home. The house now feels more like "home".

corner Sinusitis is a buggeration too far. My bugs are lolling in my bones. Every movement is a great effort. Two weeks of this and I'm still housebound. Thankfully there will be a turning point. Patience is the key.

It's a lovely day. Very sunny and equally blustery. The teal green waves are white-capped. The gulls are having a wonderful time mastering the thermals.

Busy time so have rushed through all the messages to check up on Panache and was so pleased to hear she was back home.
MrP how kind of you to let us know about Panache. The MD I am sure is worrying thing to have to cope with as well. My very best wishes to you both and a speedy recovery to Panache still in my prayers

Sinus trouble is my downfall too corner everything seems to end up there these days.

We had a lot of hard landscaping materials delivered today on a lorry with no lift and driven by one elderly gentleman ( older than Grampy we thought) , so Grampy had to assist ( or do the lions share depending on your point of view lol) > I suspect he will be feeling that effort later.

Not much exciting here ( which is no bad thing !!)

So I shall leave you with some really nice cheese scones !!

N&G as a matter of interest: do you add an egg to your cheese scone mix? My friend told me yesterday that I should have been doing this, and that’s probably why they are not all that successful (the description is mine, not hers, as she has never tasted them)!

I love a cheese scone - I imagine they are GF, N&G. I misguidedly bought some GF ones from M&S this morning and I need something to take the taste away!!

I went to the GP today about my BP medication - when did they start to let 12 year olds pretend to be doctors? She has put me on another tablet that might make me swell up and needs to see me in a week to check that I haven't. She asked if I was free next Friday and I said that I was but DD is expecting a baby in the next 3 weeks so anything could happen. 'Oh,' she said, 'shall we leave it an extra week then?' And they are letting her prescribe medication!!

So I have returned from a session with a (Male) physio who looked young enough to be my grandson. Doesn’t do much for your vanity does it?
He thinks I need to build up my muscles in my right shoulder area and that it is not a “bone” problem but down to strength or lack of it.
All makes sense but there is no magic bullet, just exercise and continuing with pain relief as and when I need it.
I fear I might have to take up “exercise”having done my best to avoid it ever since bunking off hockey when I was 16
I don’t see myself as a gym bunny, more of an old boiler but do I need to rethink?
Sinusitis sufferers you have my complete sympathy as it makes you miserable as do infections of any sort.
When you think of all those warnings about antibiotics losing their efficacy it is terrifying to contemplate not being able to bang infections on the head.
So battening down the hatches again for a windy few days (is it the Autumn Equinox yet?)
?“‘Twas on the broad Atlantic, Mid the equinoxial gales...” etc ?

soop, you are clearly recovering, but need to take it easy for a while. One day, you will wake up and realise how well you feel and that's when you know how poorly you have been. That day can't be far off now.

Good to hear from Mr P - my thoughts echo everyone else's and wishing Panache strength and a slow progression of the MD.

Belladona cheese scones are/were my one speciality in baking and you do indeed add an egg to bind the mixture together along with milk. I only very occasionally find a cheese scone which is edible - most seem to just use the sweet mix and put cheese on the top which is yuk!

Maw sounds like you need to start lifting weights - maybe start with a couple of tins of beans to begin with though. My arms have never had any strength in them so I always end up with shoulder problems if I've been decorating - good excuse never to do any more ceilings

Hope the new BP meds don't make you swell up Kitty! Visions of the aunt in Harry Potter floating through the air come to mind lol. Wouldn't be a good look at all

I thank you all for your company. It has been a day of mixed blessings. I'm just so grateful for all my blessings.

I've had an hours nap. Just wanted to switch-off and clear my mind of stuff "to do" and all that jazz.

The sun continues to shine. There has been a sharp shower. Autumn colours look stunning. The marvellous Burdock has shed almost all it's foliage. Under the soil, the root is resting. In the spring, it will appear and amaze us with it's vigour.

I have just read all the posts from today and it amazes me how you can actually feel love from the posts and after a day at work it’s just what the doctor orders . It’s better than meditation however I think Soop just dusts us all with virtual fairy dust so we leave this thread with a smile on our faces . Just love it . Have a lovely night everyone .

Sounds like the message I get from physios maw In our area there is a scheme with Health Ambassadors. After an initial meeting there is the option of 6 free gym sessions. I tried, I really did, I'm not sure who was the most relieved when I declined to register for number 7. I do lower back exercises from a sheet, walk as much as I can and some home based yoga each day. It has to help - I hope - I'm sure you are made of sterner stuff and will manage far better.

Right, head needs a rest now. I truly think it has been under the bed!

Morning all. I’m pleased that Mr &Mrs Panache dropped by. I wish them well and that Panache’ treatment is successful. I hope your back on your feet greyduster your post made me smile maw it bought back memories of having a very young Swedish oestopath working on my sore shoulder. He was completely oblivious to how gorgeous he was. I remember thinking perhaps all men look like him in Sweden and that’s why he was oblivious. We have a fantastic school of osteopathy here. They’ve cured all manner of aches and pains in my family. I’m not really into alternative stuff but I know osteopathy works. Oh by the way my army son has had his ongoing ankle injury operation here’s hoping it’s a success. I booked a table at a nice reasturant for my other son and DiL last night. They were a bit “oh you shouldn’t”but I knew it would be a very long time if ever they could go out on their own again. It was money well spent they looked so relaxed and loving when they returned home. I hope it’s set them up a little for the difficult times ahead. I’m off to Portsmouth for a friends special surprise birthday bash this weekend I’m combining it with a visit to see the Mary Rose. I’ve alway wanted to see it. I love anything from the Tudors. Enjoy the scones n&g and get better all of you with sinus problems. I’m also a martyr to that condition, but that’s a conversation for another day or my husband will be shouting “hurry up” love to all. We are off to find 2 pots for our little holly trees that reside outside the front door. Their current pots are just not man enough for the wind and keep getting blown over. While we are out I do think breakfast might be in order ! That will save me sorting something out for lunch :-)

Young Stevie called me last night to tell me about his new dress up costumes he got for his birthday , Ironman and Batman. I asked which he liked best and he replied that he loved the ironman costume but the batman mask...there was a little silence before he told me he would henceforth be that 'well known' superhero - Ironbat!!!!

Good morning the kitchen. Cold here today - I’m thinking central heating. DH is thinking not! It is, apparently, ‘too early’. GS is here later for an overnight stay and I’ll bet my last ha’penny that if the boy even mutters about being cold, the heating will go on, tout suite! But it won’t happen, because the boy is never cold. I think he has antifreeze for blood! At the moment I wish I did!
Bellanonna I am still trying to unravel the mystery of scones containing eggs. A lady who runs a cafe on one of our local canals, advised me that you need to put in “a lot of eggs” to get them to rise like her high rise examples. She gave me a recipe with amounts adapted from those she used. Eggs notwithstanding they failed. I use yoghurt and sometimes they rise and sometimes - most times - not! If you have success I would be interested to have your recipe.

Corner I hope you’re feeling better today. DH is troubled with sinus problems from time to time. Miserable. He used to take sinutabs but he can’t take them anymore so he has to ‘tough it out’ like you!
kitty I agree with you about doctors! It’s not only policemen who look as if they should still be in short trousers these days. Very disconcerting! It seems all the hoary old sons of the consulting couch have taken early retirement!
We had a lovely afternoon with my closest friend yesterday. She cooked us lunch and we nattered non stop. Surprising how much there was to catch up on.
I have to get cracking now as it is match day and DS is coming for lunch. I have most of the afternoon to myself before GS puts in an appearance so I intend to mark out the hessian base for my winter rug making project.
